1  Re: MINI 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2013 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by spidermom on: December 08, 2013 07:51:02 PM
my daughter tried to murder my laptop.  fortunately, my partner and i are are facebook friends, so we have been in communication daily as we open!  i think its all better now so here i go with posting pictures!!!  my partner is mink_bikini

here's a group shot before i started:

Day 1:

First package said open immediately so you can use it right away.  So exciting!

its a lovely TARDIS tree skirt!!!  be jealous!!!

and here it is under the tree!

Day 2:

some where along the way since mink_bikini and i met in the penpal swap, i told her that my maternal grandfather was of Dutch descent.  his family was of the belief that once they immigrated the US, they were Americans and didn't continue using the language or traditions.  so i'm part Dutch but know little about it Smiley

lovely Dutch linens which i will treasure

Day 3:

i collect vintage Jiffy stitching kits!

Day 4:

funny cuz i attempted to make one of these for her but i screwed it up and did something else instead!

Day 5:

hard to find and SUPER ADORABLE Ondori cross stitch book

Day 6:

awesome granny square tree

Day 7:

this beautiful cross stitch says "Happy Feast Day" in Dutch!

Day 8:

adorable vintage looking angel ornament!  i love this little lady too much!

Day 9:

super cute plaid skirt, sorry no action shot, i assure you it fits perfectly!

Day 10:

wonderful circle skirt!  i actually had one in this exact fabric pinned!  i adore it!

Day 11:

these little buggers were hard to photograph!  vintage Hummel stitchery kits!

Day 12:

awesome TARDIS stocking to go with my lovely tree skirt!

thanks for everything mink_bikini!!! this swap was so incredibly fun!!!

hi everybody!  prepare to be jealous!  i received the most STUNNING package from my super secret swap angel!

i immediately felt very nervous when i saw the box had a huge dent in it and was clearly marked fragile!  eek!  luckily, every beautiful little bit arrived safe and sound, and boy am i blown away!

the first thing i saw amid the massive amount of styrofoam peanuts, was this:

intrigued, i carefully fished out several packages wrapped in blue ribbon

this lovely weighted toadstool pincushion

and this gorgeous stitched frog

not pictured, a yummy smelling soap and a box of tasty shortbread cookies!  yay!

ok i'm super excited with what i've already opened at this point so now with the greatest of care, i unwrapped the final package.   a completely amazing, fantastic, beautiful work of art

this, my friends, is a tiny treehouse!!!!!!!!!  its about 10" tall

look at the doors and windows, look at the teeny teeny mushrooms!!!

tiny bedroom!

tiny fireplace, tiny mirror!

tiny table!

clearly, i'm in love!  Cheesy  this will forever be treasured and prominently displayed in my home!

my super secret angel did not reveal their identity!  come out, come out, wherever you are so i can properly thank you for this AMAZING gift!!!

7  Another Doodle Stitched Gadget Case in Needlework: Completed Projects by spidermom on: October 14, 2013 09:36:43 PM
this time with two colors!

once again, done completely without a pattern, which was a little tricky for me using two different threads.

this one was made to fit an iphone 4 for smileyyogini in the Make A Purse and Fill It swap round 7.

i love doodle stitching, its becoming "a thing" for me Smiley  what do you think?

8  Doodle Stitched gadget case in Needlework: Completed Projects by spidermom on: October 02, 2013 04:39:13 PM
made this a while back for the FOC secret swap.

it all started with a lazy daisy on eco-felt...

from there i just worked on it a little bit at a time, a knot here, a chain there...

i even pulled out a nice 70's needlework book for stitch ideas, since i was using pearl cotton i didn't use any type of split stitches

this was such an enjoyable project for me, just doodling with a needle while clearing out the dvr Smiley

would love to know what you think!

here's the stuff i sent to my stalkee

doodle stitched phone cosy.  this started with a lazy daisy, then i just kind of stitch a bit here and there until it felt done Smiley

next a tiny felt badge of Doom Kitty from the cartoon Ruby Gloom.

this neck warmer was initially envisioned as a scarf, as i started to assemble it, it just seemed to want to curl itself up, so it became an asymmetrical neck warmer.

despite the difficulties and having to go with Plan B, i'm pleased with how it turned out.  i sewed a vintage button to the front, but its only decorative--i sewed tiny circles of velcro on the back for a fastener.   i'd love to know how it wears and whether its actually practical because i loved the idea Wink  its the little red circle you can kind of see here when its flattened out.

i hope my stalkee liked it!
