2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Single signature notebook (with "tutorial") on: October 18, 2007 07:12:39 AM
So, I was stuck for a pretty notebook, and my camera was to hand, so here is a little step-by-step photostory...
I'm going to start by giving away the ending:

The new handmade notebook got it on with the mass produced duo.But how did the handmade notebook get there, hmmm? Flashback!

Trimming some out of date letterhead paper...

Lining one sheet up on some wrapping paper I saved...

Taping the pretty sheet to the plain sheet...

Stacking the rest of the trimmed paper neatly on top...

Folding down the middle...

Sewing from the inside...

Along the spine...

Done! That's how!
3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Bettie Page KYORockstar on: October 03, 2007 04:02:14 AM
Thanks Scarfninja!

I used plastic double pointed needles (I think they were 4.5mm, so not too tiny!)
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sew U shirt in retro floral on: September 26, 2007 09:02:29 AM

Well, here's my take on the shirt in Built By Wendy's Sew U book.
I got pretty annoyed with the instructions (spread through the book, unclear on the seam allowances...) but I made it in the end!

I cut a size larger than I usually would (having read it runs small), which was a bit of a mistake. I ended up taking it in a load at the waist to stop it drowning me, which left the bust fitting a bit weirdly.

Overall I'm a bit "meh" about the whole thing, which is a bit unreasonable- I have actually worn the shirt quite a bit, and I was only really hoping for a wearable muslin, and a practice run at shirt making!

Meh or not, here's a few more pics:

(That last one's my fave- it shows off the buttons- from my Grandmother's button box- and the fabric- from the sale shelf in my fave shop, where it had been waiting for me for 25-30 years!!)

That's crazy talk fabric- it wouldn't have occurred to me to cut it like that, but it WORKS. Go the umbrella skirt! (and boo to the not fitting)
