I need to find a fabric place that will sell small amounts of just remains.  Is there such a place?  I'm a yarnie, I have no clue about fabric.

I suggest you swap a Craftster sewist for fabric scraps!

We did have snow last week, thisbird.  Those are cool season crops and it's time to plant them now.  It's also time to plant potatoes, I need to get on that!

I've never had or heard of kohlrabi. What is the flavor like? How to you prep it for cooking/eating?

It's described as a broccoli-apple.  The flesh is white under the purple peel.  I've served it thinly sliced in salads, as an ingredient in stir fries and also roasted.  The tops are really tasty sauted in bacon fat.  It's supposedly also good cooked and mashed but I've never tried it that way.  It's a cool season vegetable that should be available in local farmers markets next month.

Thanks guys!  Our natural soil is clay and rocks also, yoopidou.  We swear by a local commercial compost.

I thought I'd share our winter gardening efforts.  Here's one of two garlic beds we planted in October. We have peas, lettuce, carrots and spinach planted in other exterior raised beds, those aren't up yet.

Inside the greenhouse is another story!  Here is the spinach we've been enjoying for the past few months.  Isn't it gorgeous?

This bed has spinach, lettuce and rutabaga greens.  Yum.

Our carrots are almost ready to harvest.  Baby ones, at least.

Pea flowers.  We have both shelling and snow peas.

A broccoli bouquet.  I've been putting this in stir fry and quiche.

Kohlrabi.  Amazing!  It's good raw, baked, fried and mashed.

We grow our own citrus, even though we're in Virginia (zone 7).

Baby beets.

And inside the house, we've got peppers and cucumbers and tomatoes ready for transplanting into peat pots.  Those will be in the ground before we know it!

I received package #2 from LimeRiot today (a reminder, we're doing our own version of a Make A Friend swap) and I couldn't be happier!  First up are two hoops, one for my daughter who is expecting her first baby and has selected a woodland theme for her nursery.  She's going to love this!  The 'Oh Beehave' hoop is for our bee themed bath and was Lime's bubblewrap printing featured project.  I'm thrilled to own this!

One of the things we have in common is a stash of Philosophy 3 in 1's  and she added to both of our stashes!  Vanilla Cream Topping.. yum....   Cheesy

I had the fleece from my favorite sheep Beatrice spun into yarn which has been sitting in my craft room forever since I don't knit.  LimeRiot is a masterful knitter, and offered to make me something from her yarn.  I received socks (!), a cowl and a clippie for Beatrice.  All are so gorgeous and totally impressive!!!

Here's a closeup of the cowl.  She's magic, I tell ya!

Look at the talent that went into these socks!

And here's an action shot of Beatrice wearing her clippie.  She's stylin'!

Thank you so much, LimeRiot for being my partner and friend.   Kiss
