231  Zombie Apocalypse Countdown Calendar in Completed Projects by MissingWillow on: March 02, 2012 06:57:38 AM
What every zombie fan needs... a countdown to the apocalypse calendar!  It's actually meant for the drawers to be filled with treats and opened each day in December.   Wink

Here are some of my favorite parts- A warning sign!  The moon glows in the dark.

Day 3 is a zombified Hugh Laurie (House MD)

Day 9 is a zombie photo booth image.

Day 15's image comes from The Walking Dead.

Day 18 is a graveyard.

Instead of a number 24, I made a homage to 28 Days Later.

232  Garden in a Jar in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by MissingWillow on: February 29, 2012 12:55:31 PM
Are you itching for something fresh while waiting for your frozen garden soil to thaw?  Consider trying sprouts.  While I was cleaning my kitchen cabinets last week I came across some long forgotten sprout seeds and decided to see if they were still viable and they sure were!  I'm certain I picked them up at a garden supply place.  I also picked up the green mason jar mesh lid which is useful however you can use a piece of panty hose and a rubber band instead.  I grabbed an empty pint jar and put in a tablespoon of mung bean seeds.  Put the lid on it and rinsed the seeds then drained them.  I kept this jar by my kitchen sink and a few times a day I rinsed and drained the seeds.

After just a little over a week, I had this.  Great on salads and sandwiches!

233  Re: 100 Facts About Me Swap Rd 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by MissingWillow on: February 27, 2012 05:11:19 PM
My package arrived from Miss Barbara today.  Here are the lovelies she sent me:
First up were some farm/garden themed buttons and whimsies to help me decorate the wee house I've got under construction.

A farmer's market journal (I'm a vendor).  I'm certain I'll make good use of this!  A paper mache covered pumpkin bank.  A pumpkin is the one thing I have a hard time growing.  A heart shaped tin with cookies inside (yum) and beavers on the outside.  We collect beaver related things here, they're responsible for our farm name (Missing Willow Farm).  A round globe box filled with painted peg people and some cute tiny animals.

More whimsies and a slate weeping willow wall hanging she made herself using a rubber stamp, she included the stamp for me to use, too.  I already have a project in mind for that stamp.

It's hard to see but the sheep in this hoop are outlined in shiny beads.  The back of the hoop is covered in the strawberry fabric so it's reversible.  She also sent me extras of both fabrics.

Thank you, Miss Barbara.  It was nice getting to know you.   Smiley

234  Re: Winter Hippy Swap Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by MissingWillow on: February 27, 2012 04:51:27 PM
I received from our wonderful organizer Samsara today.  This is the second time we've partnered.  I invited her in my very first swap, an Invite Your Partner.   Grin  Here's my fantastic package she sent across the pond.  She made me wrapped bangle bracelets and an altered tin in a bee theme (we're beekeepers).

Here's what's inside the tin.  So cute!

A beaded copper heart with dangling amber beads.  Love it!

A shirt with a hand drawn mehendi design.  I'm an occasional mehendi artist, I so appreciate this!

Here's a close up of her design.  Samsara, you should be a mehendi artist if you aren't already.  So beautiful!

Mehendi cards!  I had such a hard time using the handmade cards you sent me in our last swap.  I think these may need to be framed!

An embroidered appliqued beekeeper themed bag!

Here's the back!

A pixie hat and matching snood!  I never thought I'd say this but I think I needed a snood!   Smiley  My husband was thrilled to see it, he always fusses at me for not dressing warm enough.

Thank you so much, Samsara!  I loved partnering with you for a second time and love everything you made me.  Kiss

Great bag as always SheepBlue!  Ffrogg, I think I'd try a new doctor for sure.  Since my partner in the Hippy Swap has received, I posted the tassel belt I made for her.

237  Tribal Belly Dance Tassel Belt in Costumes: Completed Projects by MissingWillow on: February 24, 2012 04:39:56 AM
My partner in the Winter Hippy swap, Samsara, is a tribal style dancer.  I myself am a former tribal style dancer who still enjoys costuming.  I've still got a few of the mirrored belt bases in my stash.  I attached one to a black cotton base, whipped up some wool tassels, embellished with a few beads, cowrie shells bits and bobs and here ya go:

Here's something I made for a swap that also meets my #17. Hand build a piece

It's a trinket box for Samsara

239  Trinket Box in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by MissingWillow on: February 21, 2012 03:16:57 PM
I made a trinket box for Samsara in the most recent Winter Hippy swap.  One of the themes she mentioned she likes are lotus blossoms, so I went with that.  The reddish brown is done with iron oxide with no overglaze.  The blue glaze is called Floating Blue.  I like the contrast.
