11  New Purse for Work in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by EllaRain on: February 25, 2013 05:03:27 PM
I usually like very small purses, but lately decided I needed something a little bit bigger for work. The bag itself is about 7.5 x 10 (big for me).

I thought about using Amy Bulter's Blossom bag, but after reading about how difficult it is to make, I decided to just use "Blossom" style handles on a bag of my own design.  The lining has all sorts of pockets so I can stay organized.

I took it for a test run to the store yesterday and I am pretty happy with it.

Hey everyone check out the wonderful MAQ I received from WhistleFish:
She choose my "Christmas Table Square" Theme and as you can see it turned out awesome! Grin

Looking back over my questionnaire I felt kind of guilty about how demanding of a partner I was.  I wanted a table square, I wanted it to be viewable from every angle (for all the people sitting around the table) and I wanted it to look good on its own or underneath some other decoration (like a bouquet of flowers).
But WhistleFish fulfilled all of my demands and made the most adorable, whimsical, jolly creation.  I could not be more pleased.

Here you can see some of the detail.  The center is full of stars and there are all sorts of different kinds of neat stitch-work around each of the houses and trees.  I especially like the stitches on the evergreens.  It makes it look like they have snow on their branches.   Grin

Thank-you, WhislteFish.  I just love it!

14  Re: Purse Craftalong? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by EllaRain on: February 12, 2013 07:34:45 PM
I would be up for this, if there is still interest.
I have been thinking I might like to make this bag: http://sdmikke.blogspot.com/2009/03/pleated-purse-pattern.html.  I used the pattern once for a swap:

and now I think I would like to make one for myself (in non-skull fabric  Wink).

Nothing says love like making three posts in a row  Wink.
But I had to post one more time because I made another dress. I saw some cute fabric on sale and I just could not help myself. Plus since I already had the pattern cut it was super quick.
Here it is:

Thanks again violentjayne!!!

16  A dress I have been itching to make. . . in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by EllaRain on: July 15, 2012 05:12:32 PM
Since summer started I have found myself itching to make a dress. Something cool and comfortable but dressy enough I could wear to work.  So when I saw this tutorial by violentjayne I had to give it a try.
Here it is:

C & C welcome.

Prepare to see the beautiful package SilentBlair sent me.

First the most adorable combination pincushion thread-catcher. I needed one of these so bad so I was supper psyched when I saw it. The pincushion sticks to my sewing table really well and don't you just love the fabric? Soooo cute!! Cheesy

In my questionnaire I said that I would love either a pincushion/thread catcher or some sort of fun pin cushion.  But Silentblair, being the awesome crafter that she is, made me both! Grin  Grin Grin
It is Brain!!!!!!! (from pinky and the Brain)

Here he is next the matching card I also received.
I cannot say enough about this pin cushion. The crochet is perfect. The embroidery on the face is flawless. Plus the whole concept is so me.
There is nothing like a pin cushion that reminds you to take over the world . . . muhaaahaaahaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, an extra bonus. A super fun tree scrabble tile pendant!

Thank-you tons SlientBlair!!

18  Re: Craft This Tote Round 2! - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by EllaRain on: February 05, 2012 11:55:20 AM
I received an awesome package from Antidigger.
First a pic of everything.

So much good stuff. Two wonderful Morsbags. A handy little notebook that quickly found a home in my purse and a very clever, not to mention adorable, turtle pincushion.

The First bag. The combination of fabrics and stamping is so neat.

The second bag. With a handy pocket for coupons.

The little turtle pincushion. So cute!!!!!!

I pulled the little turtle out first and exclaimed to my dh how adorable he was. Then to my surprise I found four elephants and a discworld hiding in the packaging. I realized that the turtle is actually none other then the Discworld' s Great A'tuin!!

If you have not read these books you should head to your library right away, because they are awesome. I did not put anything in my questionnaire about liking them but Antidigger did some serious stalking to make my package extra special Wink.

19  I heart your mind in Needlework: Completed Projects by EllaRain on: December 24, 2011 06:32:51 AM
These were for a recent swap. I used my partner's love of anatomy as an excuse to learn a bunch of new stitches.

I have not heard from my partner is some time so I thought I would just post some pics of the things I sent.

The calendar itself was a wreath.

The compartment for each day was covered by a little numbered pillow

A small clickable picture of my bought items:

heart and brain patches (My partner studied anatomy so I stitched these up for her)

Mini Christmas cross-stich kits

A Grinch Ornament

A monster change purse

A hollow egg ornament (not sure why this picture ended up being so small)

A "Fallout" patch for her boyfriend

A dragon stuffie

two skull ornaments (her wist was full of skulls)

I am kind of ridiculously proud of the back of the day of the dead skull (though I do not seem to have gotten a very good picture of it).

Last two crafts: a wavy pleats zip from my partners wist

and the Christmas craft was this large pleated purse.

I was so excited when I found this fabric. It has skulls (which my partner indicated that she loves) with hot pink bows (she listed hot pink as one of her favorite colors). The zip above is lined in the skull fabric so that the two items coordinate.
Merry Christmas.
