I started this rag quilt last December but it got shelved during a PCS (Military move).  So most the pieces having been sitting cut in my closet since we landed at our new post.  I decided a few days ago that I really need to finish it and get the stash of material out of the way so I can really open myself up for some new projects.  4 days of sewing later it is finally done.  I ended up not being my origional pattern since I ran out of tan flannel for the back but I am very pleased with the results.

Finished my first quilting ( of the not rag quilt sort) project.  It's a wall hanging for my inlaws.  I am fairly happy with the end result but it's not perfect.  I noticed in a few areas that the quilting has caused the material to not lay flat.  Any suggestions on how to keep that from happing next time?  Also I have never done any binding so this was my first experance with that too.

And fist pattern I have ever followed for that matter.  This was also my first experance with zippers.  This was given to my mom to carry books and other keep you busy kind of items to and from chemo.

She picked out all the fabric herself.  She is 5 so that may explain the over abundance of glittery material.

Has anyone worked with this organization?  I am new to sewing for the most part but think I could easly crank out some pillowcases.
