21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: I <3 Coffee/Tea Swap Round 2 Gallery!!! on: April 19, 2006 06:22:42 PM
oxmonkey,  i <3 you   Smiley
you really are an angel.

anyway, here's what i had sent to my partner:

i lined a tote bag in this cafe print.  the tote bag was purchased but and it was my first time ever lining a bag!  this is the only pic i still have of it.

next we have a cute tea bag stuffie.  (i made two at first, one for her and one for me, but our dog chewed both up and i was sad so i only ended up remaking one to send to her.  but i think though that i need to make one for myself now)

and the two food items i sent i haven't got pictures for, but i sent her a tin of amarreto cookies and some delish chocolate bars from trader joe's.

26  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: help with single crochet on: March 28, 2006 08:00:06 PM
i just started crocheting like 2 weeks ago myself and i asked for help with stuff here on craftster, so i'm glad that i could help someone else out!!

it's hard to teach yourself something like crochet without a person showing you, ya know?
hooray for crochet!

also yes, you single crochet in the last stitch of each row (but still remember to do a chain stitch at the end!!  i didn't really know you had to until i found my practice swatch mysteriously shrinking!)
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: help with single crochet on: March 28, 2006 06:59:13 PM
1. make sure you do a single chain stitch when you get to the end of each row, otherwise you'll be decreasing with each row.

2. turn your work counterclockwise, and bring the yarn over your work but under the hook (your second description)

3. if you're seeing the v that's good.  you want to place your hook under the two stitches that make up this v.
(if you can look in The Happy Hooker, they've got a really good diagram.  that's what helped me a lot)

hopefully you can understand it all, and good luck!

 Grin

hooray for warped tour!  hooray for northern california!  if you're coming out for warped tour, remember to bring cool clothes, waterbottles and SUNSCREEN!!!  at least for sacramento... prob sf will be overcast.

and yeah i think that there's a thread on here about sacramento thriftstores, Sac's Thrift Ave. etc.  you'd probably be good looking in a phonebook.

ALSO i hella wanted to shout out "hella" a few times.  it's a completely norcal word, and i grew up saying it, get criticized for saying it, yet i still love saying it.  that being said, i hope you have a hella fun time out here in California!!

p.s. i just noticed you pointed out that you say "y'all" because you're from Texas!  haha, hooray for state-specific terminology!!
