wow! have you done this by hand or on a loom? My friend has been making stuff on a loom and i'm sure he'd be interested in making waves  Cheesy it's very impressive if you made it without one!

Thanks for your replies everyone! Mclied I looked at the back again and the seam is even but there is a crease in the fabric near the seam - it does look messy though doesn't it. But I definitely need practice trimming curved seams Sad they are the most difficult ones to get to look proffessional and I would really appreciate it if anyone has any tips on that?!

I made all the pattern pieces symmetrical from body measurements and then gave them all an inch seam allowance, and used a chalk pencil to mark dots on the fabric to match seams and allowances (maybe that could help?). There's one place they didn't match up on the hem which I blame on working on it for too long at a time at night (I can only work when my daughter is napping) and being a bit lazy  Roll Eyes

What is your exam in superstar?

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I've been visiting the site almost every day for a few months trying to pluck up courage to join - I know that's a bit silly Roll Eyes  I decided to wait until I had made something truly mine so I made this dress from scratch using a pattern I made from newspaper and it has turned out really well (I think) apologies for the crappy pictures I only have a phone camera:

here's the back, with a close up:

here's the front

and a close up of the hem dome:

The only thing is I can only just get the hem over my big bum Shocked so I'm going to have to make a button and loop on the upper part of the racer back I think. And i saw the tutorial on here for making your own fabric covered buttons so I might have a go at that. Thank you for looking! Comments and criticisms welcome Smiley
