1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / project life supply swap on: September 25, 2013 09:08:06 PM
a really simple swap involving the exchange of project life journalling cards and supplies.

they don't have to be branded ones - in fact i think handmade ones would be more fun.

i was thinking it could look something like:
10 6x4 cards
10 4x3 cards
3 other useful things, such as stickers, ribbon, interesting paper clips, washi tape, ink, pens, or even die cutters etc.

but this is obviously open for discussion!

i can't be the only craftster who's obsessed with project life, and this would be a great way to vary our collection of supplies. what do you think?

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / 4 inch hoopla on: August 09, 2013 03:06:45 AM
i was thinking that a fun and manageable swap for those of us without STACKS of crafting time (hi, i have a toddler!) would be a single 4" embroidery hoop swap.

it'd be open for any and all forms of embroidery, and even applique if people wanted, the only firm guideline would be the hoop size.

i would probably want to keep it to a limited number of participants, just so that it wasn't too hectic to organise (did i mention the toddler?).

i'm including a couple of pictures of 4" pieces i've done myself, just for some examples...

(these are all my original designs)

is anyone interested?

Details of swap:

This swap should be a nice easy one after the busy christmas season!

Basically we're making a needle book for our partner. there are infinite variations on how needle books can look, so I'd suggest checking out your partner's wist, tumblr, blog or profile to get an idea of their style.
Here are some examples to get your ideas going:

if you wish to organise with your partner to send other items with the needle book such as candy, a pin cushion, craft supplies, or similar, you are free to do so, but the key thing here is the needle book. other items are for you and your partner to organise between yourselves.

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / needle book swap on: December 09, 2010 10:32:04 PM

needle books are so useful for sewers and embroiderers. they save us from keeping our pins and needles in the arm of the couch, or pinned to the hems of our skirts for safekeeping.

they're fun and not especially time-consuming to make, and light to post, so i thought that a swap for exchanging needle books might be a fun idea.

they can be made of fabric or felt, or a combination of the two. they can be appliqued, embroidered, patchwork, or pretty much anything else you can think of. the variations are endless!

what do you think?

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / da de los muertos embroidered hoops on: December 08, 2010 09:04:57 PM
in the recent chocolate swap (organised by the lovely sweety28303), i was partnered with Zombie_Queen. she likes da de los muertos, and wanted some wall art for her home, so i decided to make her some embroidered hoops...

it's almost all backstitch, with a little satin stitch for the hearts of some of the flowers.

i designed the pattern myself, and i'm considering develping it into a pattern. we'll see how that goes...

i had heaps of fun working with these bright colours, and with the floral motifs.

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my woodland sampler on: November 02, 2010 12:20:24 AM
i designed this project myself, and i kind of love it. i'm so in love with woodland creatures, and i love samplers too, so it's a match made in heaven as far as i'm concerned Smiley

cross stitch ftw! Cheesy
