2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Puppy Skirt on: March 26, 2004 10:03:31 PM

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Little bag- Used to be way big, now it's way CUTE on: March 09, 2004 10:21:54 PM

I got this bag from a Mexican flea market...it was only about $1 and GREAT to haul all the stuff I bought!!  It's been hanging in my closet for 3 years, because it's not really practical for me to use that often...  so...I busted out the scissors and some needle and thread, then some yarn and a zipper...

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Round bag...duffle like--TUTORIAL ADDED!! on: February 28, 2004 11:03:42 AM
Just finished this...only took me about 3 weeks cause I got bored with it before I sewed the ends on...it's for my niece

OK, so I've never posted a tutorial, if you have any questions, lemme know...  here goes...

1.  Decide how big you want your bag to beI cut my ends 20 around.  (I made a paper temp. so that I could trace it.)
Round Pieces to cut:
2 interfacing
2 lining
2 outer material
* Lining was pink, I also used pink as the outer ends*

2.Decide how wide you want the body (for lack of better term), and cut 1 each of interfacing, outer, and lining. *The length should be the circumfrence of the circle + seam allowance*
Sandwich Lining, interfacing, and outer material, and sew all pieces together, right sides out, so that it can be worked with like its one piece.

3. For the straps:
*I think it would be easier to buy some of that nylon strappy stuff, which if I hadnt been in such a hurry, I would have and the next time I make one of these, Im gonna do*
Decide how long and wide you want them to be, (I cut them 4 wide, and 44 long) and cut 2.  Fold them in longways, then fold the the edges to the middle (like bias tape). Then sew the ends together so that you have one piece.

4.Pin straps flat and stich. *Make sure that you pin the straps on evenly*Sew in zipper (look for zipper tutorial for help)

5. For the ends:
Sandwich and sew the round pieces the same way as the body.  Pin to the edges, right sides together and sew.  **When you sew the last end on, make sure you leave the zipper open enough to turn the bag out**

Voila!! Youre done!!
