1  Ohio / Ohio: Central / Columbus crafty jobs? on: January 17, 2006 01:12:55 AM
Hey, I hope this isn't considered innapropriate for this forum but I am rather desperate. I live in the OSU campus area and it's REALLY hard to find a job right now. I need to actually start paying my boyfriend some rent so I'm stressing out.

Do any of you know of any crafty/artsy-type jobs in columbus, preferably in the short north/campus/clintonville area (I have to walk/bike)? Annnything that you know of, any place hiring at all!
(And in all honestly it doesn't even have to be necessarily craft-related, I'd do most things really but I have to keep it relevant to CRAFTster...).

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Preserving a Potato? on: January 09, 2006 12:10:33 AM
Maybe some of you can help me!:

I have this potato I found, and it's shaped like a heart! I can't throw the thing away! I just can't. I need to make it into something. I was thinking about carving it out and making something like a shadow box inside, or some kind of weird little shrine, and painting the outside.

I know this sounds really weird. I can't let such an awesome find go to waste though...I found it in a dumpster for christsakes!

Big problem though, I don't know how to like...preserve the potato. Or seal it? So that is doesn't you know, rot. Is it even possible to do this? It seem like it should be.

and because I know everyone's soooo interested, here's a picture!

so cute...someone help!!!
