1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Spiderweb capelet--how did I screw up??? on: February 07, 2005 07:11:03 AM
So I made the spiderweb capelet last night, while half-heartedly watching the Super Bowl.  I thought I did everything right; the lace looks good, with few mistakes (and those aren't noticeable).  But then I tried it on.  Somehow, I ended up adding several stitches over the course of making it, so that the top is almost the same size as the bottom (i.e., no shoulder shaping).  Granted, I failed to count my stitches on the shaping rows, because I was lazy, but I didn't think it looked TOO out of whack until I saw the finished piece.

Has anyone else done this?   Huh  I'm going to reconfigure it to make a different kind of shawl, but I want to make one that looks normal, too!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Beginner lace pattern? on: February 02, 2005 05:05:10 PM
Any good pattern ideas for someone who's never knit lace before?  I'd like to do a shawl/wrap or something.  All the ones I've seen look really complicated (or maybe I just can't judge the difficulty well)!  Thanks!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What's your favorite knitting book (other than SnB)? on: February 01, 2005 11:08:40 AM
I'm trying to decide on a good, fairly general pattern book to buy next.  I have the two SnB books, and I'm an advanced beginner (maybe intermediate).  I'd love to hear about books you love, especially if you've made a few projects from them.  Thanks!   Grin
