2  Steampunk pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Andromeda007 on: January 12, 2012 02:17:04 PM
Proof that it is perfectly acceptable to destroy old, useless items in the name of creating new, useful things! Steampunk pendant made from the components of an old watch, some broken jewelry, and one lone bellydance coin.

My dear younger brother used to have a sweet Nightmare Before Christmas scarf with Jack on itbut, sadly, he lost it. So I, being the thoughtful big sister, decided to make him a new one!

5  Harry Pottter winged key necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Andromeda007 on: February 13, 2011 05:59:10 PM
I made this necklace for my swap partner in the Decked out For Deathly Hallows swap several months ago.  She mentioned that she had a thing for the winged keys from the first book/movie, so I wanted to be sure she received a winged key related item.  While searching the interwebs for ideas, I ran across a picture of a winged key necklace and thought "I can make that!", so here it is Smiley

In the excitement of swap send-outs, I forgot to take pictures of it before I mailed the package!  I was very lucky that she not only took some pictures, but sent them to me as well Smiley

Thanks for looking!

6  Molly Weasley inspired shawl in Crochet: Completed Projects by Andromeda007 on: February 12, 2011 09:22:44 PM
After running across the discussion thread for the Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Part 2 Swap, it dawned on me that I have not yet posted my projects from part 1!  This was the first real crochet project I've ever completed, not counting dishcloths, of course Smiley

I really wanted to spoil my partner (who is very much a Molly Weasley fan) so I decided that one of the items HAD to be a very Weasley shawl.  As a crochet novice, I was not about to create my own pattern so I found a suitable one at lionbrand.com (Moonlight Mohair Shoulder Snuggle, Pattern #50121) and substituted the yarns of my choice.  I used Homespun in place of the Moonlight Mohair, 2 strands of Caron Simply Soft in place of Lion Suede, and added a border of 2 strands of fluffy eyelash yarn before the fringe.  This project was so much fun, and I am very pleased with the results.  My sister keeps bugging me to make her one now, too!

7  My first memory bear in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Andromeda007 on: February 12, 2011 07:07:48 PM
This was my very first attempt at making a teddy bear - a memory bear for my Mother-in-law made from her late husband's clothing.  I used Simplicity pattern 5461 for the pattern, two dress shirts in coordinating colors, and two small buttons from another dress shirt for the eyes.  The nose is just a scrap of felt stitched onto the face.  The bow is a little wonky, and I over stuffed him a little too much so he won't sit up on his own without support, but overall I was very pleased with the way he turned out.  I really enjoyed making this bear... perhaps I will try my hand at poppets next!

8  Re: Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Swap Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Andromeda007 on: November 14, 2010 11:30:44 PM
Received my completely AMAZING package from Headmistress Jennie on Saturday!  Posting a little late, because DH has been very unwell and caring for him does take priority over my craftaholism.  Things are looking up, though, and he will likely be well enough to attend the premier with me as planned!  Anyway, on to the pics!

First, a group shot of all the edibles - I am afraid most of these will not survive long enough to attend the premier with us... Goodness, what do we have here? Rasberry almond marshmallows, peanutbutter Gryffindors/chocolballs, Dr Beanpole's Skele-Gro Vita-Charms, chocolate frogs, ice mice (my personal favorite so far), ginger stars/chocolate raspberry truffles/rasperry cremes, and pretzel wands!:

Better pics of the Skele-Gro Vita-Charms and ice mice:

On to the wearables!  I think pretty much everything on here came off my wists - My very own Ravenclaw Quidditch hoodie, Ravenclaw charm bracelet, 3 pairs of earrings, and Ravenclaw house colors bracelet:

Some action shots of the hoodie (I LOVE the bronze rhinestone stripe on the sleeves!), crystal ball earrings, and charm bracelet:

And finally, the most incredible game I have ever seen. EVER.  It's a piecepack, which I had never heard of until I received this one, but it truly is an ingenious idea - the perfect gift for a Ravenclaw!  (to learn more about piecepacks, visit www.piecepack.org  )  It's basically a set of board game parts that you can use to play a variety of different games.  This one is designed with the 4 suits corresponding to the 4 Hogwarts houses and comes with a rule set called "Dumbledore's Army".  The whole game fits in the beautiful box shown below:

I didn't think to take a picture of the game set-up for Dumbledore's Army.  Tomorrow, perhaps Smiley

This was truly a phenomenal package, and I am thoroughly spoilt!  Thank you, Jennie, for all of the incredible goodies and for being such a wonderful partner!  Cheesy

9  Re: Bookmark Swap Round 3 Gallery of Bibliophilic Love in The Swap Gallery by Andromeda007 on: September 11, 2010 02:13:30 AM
I had two lovely bookmarks waiting for me in my mailbox today!  The first one is a lovely belly dancer from jungianwanderer:

the front

and the back

Pretty incredible, yes?

I also received this very clever riddle bookmark from Knittingjo!  The riddle side first:

the riddle says:

Old Mother Twitchett has but one eye,
And a long tail which she can let fly,
Every time she goes over a gap,
She leaves a bit of her tail in a trap.

The answer:

My husband got a good kick out of this one Smiley  She also sent a tasty, adorable little Koala which I named Sammy... sadly, all that is left of Sammy is this photo and a memory.  A very tasty memory...

Thank you, ladies, for the awesome bookmarks and for being such amazing partners!

Recieved today from squire_inaria and Pogo!

From squire_inaria, the lovely belly dancer bookmark!  She used a delicious, velvety paper and a beautiful belly dancer:

From Pogo, a delightful Luna Lovegood quote mark, and a gorgeous beaded mark with my three favorite colors (purple, black, and silver) and keys!

And here it sits, in my current read:

Thank you so much, ladies!  You are very talented crafters, and awesome swap partners - I love them all!  Smiley
