1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Handmade Zine Swap on: October 02, 2008 08:06:31 AM
Is this resurrected? I'd love to contribute.

Also, consider this a callout for my next zine: What are your favourite/juiciest/most pathetic/etc. Facebook status updates?
2  CANADA / Atlantic Canada / Wood Working course at NSCCD? on: January 14, 2008 07:06:52 AM
Has anyone ever taken a wood-working course for women at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design? If so, I'd love to ask you some questions.
3  CANADA / Atlantic Canada / Arts vs. Crafts: Thoughts? on: October 12, 2007 09:12:17 AM
Hey Haligonians (or anyone else who wants to put in their two cents)!

I'm a journalism student writing a lengthy piece about arts vs. crafts and the upcoming craft conference, NeoCraft, in November. I'm just doing some preliminary research and would love to talk to anyone who is a crafter and/or planning to go to this conference. I'm going to focus on the whole arts vs. crafts idea, why craft still isn't considered art to some, the history of craftwork and any other relevant topics.

We can have an informal chat; I just need to formulate some ideas and opinions about crafts in general. Anyone who has the time to help me out, please message me! It'll be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
michelle.

6  CANADA / Northern Canada / Indie designers? on: April 17, 2007 08:52:00 PM
Hey crafters,

I'm writing an article on indie designers for the upcoming style issue of Broken Pencil Magazine (www.brokenpencil.co m), so I'm looking to interview some designers based in Canada, particularly in smaller or less well-known areas such as up north. If anyone is interested in answering some questions for me and getting some exposure for their work, please message me.

Indie design doesn't have to be limited to fashion. Anything to do with style goes. The further away from fashion, the better, but I'm not too picky. If you're doing awesome stuff, let me know!

Cheers,
michelle.

9  CANADA / Ontario / LadyFest Toronto is looking for a web designer! on: April 08, 2007 08:39:17 PM
Ladyfest Toronto is looking for a creative, outgoing, web designer to create our website. The web designer will develop the website and provide the creative direction.

This is a terrific opportunity for anyone who is looking to build their portfolio as well as gain some valuable experience.

We are going to be providing a festival pass, but please keep in mind that we are a grass-roots, arts collective that have limited funding and strongly rely on fundraising initiatives. It is possible to get an honorarium at the end.

Send any questions and samples/links of your work to ladyfesttoronto@gmail.com by April 24th.

Thanks!

Where does everyone get their fabric labels made? I'm in Toronto, so it would be great to go somewhere local or order from somewhere in Canada. Thanks!
