I received today from Canamharris a very funny hoop

It's a phrase from a fench TV series, about king Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, very humorous.

Karadok said : "le gras, c'est la vie" (it means : "fat, is life")  ^_^
I think he's right!
Canamharris used a medieval font which corresponds very well with the character

I have the giggles each time I read it! Cheesy Cheesy
thank you Canamharris, I love it!

I received Pugwash's hoop today!
It's wonderful, I love it!

It's Sosuke (embroidered in black) and Ponyo (felt sewn in red) ! from the Studio Ghibli's movie : Ponyo.

The fabric is perfect, and the embroidery so neat !

Now it hangs on my new hoopla-wall, near my "my neighbor Totoro" hoop!!

I'm sooooooo happy to finally have mine!
Thank you Pugwash and Average_fan for your so nice contribution!

luckdragon : I looooooooove your cat at the window! Camelama must be very happy!
bubblegum_phoenix : Mum & baby llamas are so cute!
.:.Lola.:. : this cat looks so sweet that I want to pet your hoop Cheesy
Cherrylime : yes! it's gorgeous!

I recieved Average-fan hoop today :

It's silhouettes of japanese koi fish.
As she know that I love Japan, she embroidered with Qween Anne stitches those pretty fish on a hand-died fabric.
Actually it looks like they are swimming in a pond !
Their positions give a good impression of movement.

Thank you very much Average_fan for this so beautiful hoop.
I have already hung it on my new hoopla-wall (I'll show you a picture when I will recieve Pugwash's hoop Smiley)

6  Alice & Cheshire cat in Needlework: Completed Projects by tarmine626 on: February 23, 2012 01:50:05 AM
I made this hoop for average_fan, in the swap "Embroidery Hoopla round 7 : negative space & silhouette".

Here are the Cheshire cat and Alice from the Disneys cartoon Alice in wonderland.
I superimposed the two figures, and embroidered the non-common parts.

(thank you average_fan for this picture very useful in understanding the embroidery)

Its embroidered with Kensington stitches.
I found amusing that we should make an effort to distinguish the two figures Smiley

7  negative space Mario Bros team in Needlework: Completed Projects by tarmine626 on: February 23, 2012 01:15:28 AM
I made this hoop for pugwash, in the swap "Embroidery Hoopla round 7 : negative space & silhouette".

Here are Princess Peach in pink, Luigi in green, Mario in red and a Toad in yellow, running in a setting of Mario Bros video game.

They're embroidered with french knots, and the setting with back stitches.

It's my first embroidery with french knot and I'm very happy how it turned out.

8  Re: Arrietty, the borrower in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by tarmine626 on: January 08, 2012 09:27:37 AM
thank you everyone for your nice comments
here is a picture from the anime :

the movie was released in theaters in France in January 2011.
You can find some info here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_World_of_Arrietty
I hope you will enjoy this movie, it's very poetic.
I haven't read the book, so I can't tell you if the movie is very faithful to the book.

9  Arrietty, the borrower in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by tarmine626 on: January 06, 2012 02:52:26 AM

I made this amigurumi doll for a friend who is a fan of Arrietty, from the Miyazakis movie : the Borrowers (Karigurashi no Arrietty).
I used the indications from Free Spirit Amigurumi Doll Pattern http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com/2009/07/one-of-things-ive-really-wanted-to-do.html .
I used :
- cotton yarn (n5) and a B crochet
- paper for her eyes
- a peak for skewer painted with sliver paint, and a yellow pinhead glued on the top for the sword
- white and green flet for her belt + a small piece of cord
- brown felt for her boots

Arms and legs are flexible. Shes about 20 cm high.

Thanks for watching  Smiley

Average_fan received my package but as she can't post pictures for the moment, she asked me to do it for her. So here they are:

a little owl made of sewn fabric, Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland made of sewn felt, and Lady Gaga made of crocheted cotton yarn

close-up:

and the extra hoop : for geek, even when the light is off Smiley front & back Smiley

I had fun making these stuffies, I'm glad she like them!
