1  How to "un-cute" skirt in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by JumpingEagle on: May 31, 2010 02:28:42 PM
Okay, so I was in the store and saw a tea towel with a print I really liked, so I bought 3.

(Never mind the weird arms, they're behind my back. Also, it's not hemmed yet since I had to hand-sew)

I like it so far =) I want to make it into a dress, since I ended up only using 1,5 of my 3 tea towels so I have lots left. The problem is, it's a bit too cute for me. I like the print, but the way this turned out and definitly will become when I make it into a dress is not really my thing. I actually don't wear a lot of dresses so I don't really have a "taste" in dresses (mostly because I never find one I like). So my question is, do you guys have any idea how to give it more of an "edge" when turning it into a dress? Nothing really over the top, but like something I can wear to a metal concert but also on a regular summer day.

2  LOST dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by JumpingEagle on: May 16, 2010 11:40:10 AM
I've been lurking on here for a while now, ever since I made my own curtains and got inspired to try and make clothes as well. This weekend I finally got around to actually making something. It was meant as an experiment but it kinda turned out better than I expected. The dress was just practice, made from a man's XXL t-shirt (two actually, a black one and pieces from a white one) and I stencilled the LOST-picture on it because... Well, because I'm just a huge LOST-nerd.

Crappy webcampicture is crappy because I don't have my camera's card reader around. I might post some pictures later when I do have it.

I wonder what you guys think =)
