1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Cowboys and Indians Party... on: February 15, 2006 01:48:39 PM
So, I have until May to plan this shindig so it'll be nice enough outside to use my fire pit, my outdoor dance floor, set up a horseshoes competition, and - if it's warm enough - water pistols.

I'm thinking it's a bring your own meat - or meatless imitation meat. I'm pretty certian there will be baked beans, corn on the cob, and saspirillas or rootbeer floats depending on how warm or fancy I get.

I'm thinking there will be a game or two, and I'm thinking there should be some sort of capture the flag/indian princess/school marm in the dark involving flashlights...and then an ingenious game I've heard of called ice skating, but renamed barn raising that involves a piece of spagetti and two strangers getting awfully close.

I'm looking for ideas for out door decor, more food ideas, and certianly costumes/invitation/a way to talk someone into wearing a barrel with suspenders and boxers. Oh, and possibly an idea for entertainment...like, should I get a projecter and put up a John Wayne pic or should I find someone who can bang a drum or play a fiddle?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Getting the hardwood floors swing dance ready? on: November 27, 2005 11:12:42 AM
Is anyone here a jitterbug? My sister and I do east coast, lindy, and charleston and would like to invite some friends to my house to do so with us. Has anyone ever gotten their hardwood floors dance ready before? Have any suggestions on how to get the floors slick enough without waking up in the middle of the night and killing myself?
