21  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Clutch of dragon stuffed toys on: November 20, 2008 01:03:09 PM
For the holiday I made all the little girls in the family dragons. I used the basic pattern here: http://www.wyrm.org.uk/cuddly/beanbag.pdf

Some don't have sspines 'cause the bulk would have broke my machine.

Half of them I used two fabrics for  a different effect.

I embroidered little eyes onto them too

What do you think?
22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / birthday dress and booties - semi-reconstructed goodness on: October 02, 2008 06:29:54 PM
I made this dress for my daughter's first birthday, but gave it to her a couple days early to wear to my cousin's wedding.  I used two fat quarters for the actual dress and them pant legs of an outfit she outgrew for the sleeves and waistband.  I gathered some ribbon around a cute flower button I had lying around and trimmed the hem with green and pink ribbon to match.

Then I realized she had no pink shoes for the occasion and whipped up a pair of booties (I think they were called Chinese baby slippers) from scraps of a pink wool sweater I had felted ages ago.

I'm just so happy how well they turned out. I don't make alot for her since her MIL goes a bit nuts buying for her, she's got more clothes than the rest of the family combined. Smiley  But I'm really glad I did this. She was the hit of the wedding, after the bride of course.
23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / autumn dress for a poppet named Autumn on: October 02, 2008 06:23:30 PM
When I made my first poppet this is the outfit I had originally envisioned, but not being one to keep alot of floral stems around, I only got around to it just in time for the equinox.

24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / onesie to toddler purse on: October 02, 2008 06:16:17 PM
I made this purse for my daughters first birthday.

I took a onesie that my baby out grew and refashioned it into a purse so I could keep the cute details that are a hallmark of baby clothes everywhere.

I used a sleeve from another onesie to make it complete with a pocket that can hide a pacifier. (She never uses it as a pacifier, just chews on it when teething so handy to have around.)

She loves carting it around and seeing whats inside.
25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / stuffed animal into a nutty puppet on: October 02, 2008 06:12:36 PM
I found this cool squirrel stuffed animal at a thrift store. From the tag it looked like something someone would win at a fair.  I ripped the bottom seam and unstuffed him, then added a hand shaped liner from and old shirt to make him a puppet.

(There's not that much difference between the stuffed and puppet version, just less  poufy.)
26  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / neon food coloring + embriodery floss = pastel cuteness on: October 02, 2008 06:09:52 PM
I made this to embroider a bag for a swap intending the colors to be a green and brown but the neon food coloring made it act strange and instead I got a pastel yellow and a deep pink.

I think it turned out better than my original idea.
27  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / A pink and fluffy way to celebrate the holiday on: October 02, 2008 06:06:12 PM
Getting a head start on the winter holidays and made my little one her very own stocking.

I cobbled together a couple of patterns from familyfun.com to come up with a witchy boot type stocking. and sewed it out of shiny pink fun fur and topped it with tinsel infused feathers.
28  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 31 ENTRIES / All That Glitters Must Be ... Candy on: October 02, 2008 10:59:04 AM
Presenting my humble addition to the supermarket challenge:  A tricked out candy dish decorated with candy wrappers.

(It's hard to get pictures of shiny things!)

First I bought a bag of rolos, a bag of hersheys kisses and a container of puffs.

Then I ate the candy, let my darling baby eat the puffs and saved the container and wrappers and a lonely hershey kiss. I suppose I could have used the unwrapped candies to fill the container, but what fun would that be?  Cheesy

I used the backside of the wrappers like gold leaf to cover the cool container and cut out branches and flowers from the gold rolo wrappers to make the design.

I re-wrapped the kiss in the gold rolo wrapper.

I'm going to put my homemade goodies in it for a holiday gift. Thanks for looking and don't forget to vote.  Smiley
29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / book + feathers + sequins + tassel + beads = oh my on: August 28, 2008 02:32:34 PM
This is my very first book purse.  Made it to wear to my cousin's wedding next month.

The book is the Sugar Queen.  I chose some of the elements based on the book.

The red lining is from a sweater. In the book the heroine has a magical red sweater.

The story is placed in the deep south which for some reason always put me in the mind of Victorian fans and feathers, hence the sides of the purse. Grin

I added the tassel closure to the existing gold sequin closure once I realized I wasn't getting anything in the purse AND closing it at the same time  Tongue

I wish I had made one sooner. This was so incredibly easy and looks so over the top.  Finally me modeling it.

30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / my first poppet! (and a whole lot of clothes): pic obese on: August 28, 2008 12:04:54 PM
Introducing my first poppet. (First jointed doll ever): Autumn

Before she got her hair put on.

her most autumny outfit with head band and shoes

another autumn-esque dress

and her fuzzy pink jacket

undies

fancy dress with bloomers and ballet shoes

and a sundress made from a fancy blouse sleeve

This was so fun. She's made from the elenor pattern (thanks Craftewoman!) with felted cashmere.  Her clothes are scraps I had lying around after making my summer wardrobe from reconstructed thrift store finds and clearing my closet of all that is not so fabulous.  I can hardly stop making clothes for her.
