1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Mmm! Toast! swap Gallery on: September 07, 2010 01:58:52 AM
That toaster purse is unbelievably cool and so original - I love it Grin  And the glowing toast and friends are so funny, what a treat!

Thank you, EkkaGrrl, for arranging an angel...

and Thank you, camelama, for being an angel

You ladies rock!

Here are a few pictures of the package that I sent to Aka_Breeno

A picture of everything together (minus the small boxes of Lucky Charms that I substituted for packing material).  A bumbleberry jam scented candle, a set of six drink markers, a keychain, strawberry on white & grape on wheat necklaces, toast stuffie with smaller matching cat toy (hiding underneath) and some Alaska Salmonberry jam, Fireweed honey, a silicone butter & jam set and a mini cinnamon toast candle

the candle - smells delish!!

the toast necklaces

the cat toy - I tried to make him look worried but...

and my postal receipt

Thank you again to camelama and EkkaGrrl.  I really appreciate all that you have done.

I love 'em!!  I think you have just inspired me to bring down my sewing machine at long last.  I have a serious pile of t-shirts that I just couldn't bear to part with now that they no longer fit...they will like this Grin.  Thank you for sharing your great work Smiley
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: candy making tips (for kids)? on: August 30, 2010 11:40:42 AM
Here are a few recipes that I've tried with my kids that are all fantastic...

toffee:  http://candy.about.com/od/carameltoffee/r/englishtoffee.htm
caramels:  http://gottalittlespacetofill.blogspot.com/2009/12/homemade-caramels.html
peanut brittle:  http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/moms-best-peanut-brittle/Detail.aspx  (I use almonds instead of peanuts)
truffles:  http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/easy-decadent-truffles/Detail.aspx
lollipops/hard candy:  http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,177,150176-253198,00.html  (I mostly just pour this onto a cookie sheet and after it hardens I just crack it all with a butter knife and enjoy the pieces...my grandma used to put the pieces into some powdered sugar for a coating)

My mother has a hard honey candy recipe that was always so much fun to make as a kid, I'll have to get it from her if you're interested.

7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Mmm! Toast! swap SIGN UPS July 2nd-July 16th--SO August 20th CLOSED on: August 23, 2010 04:03:18 PM
Whew.  I'm almost out of fingernails, reverting back to the horrid childhood habit of biting them....apparently it's how I deal with the angst of waiting for my parcel to my partner to be delivered Grin

When I shipped the post office advised of 5-7 mail days.  I'm thinking and hoping, that it's already arrived in country and is waiting for delivery.  Meanwhile, I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and behind my back Wink) that she enjoys her package.
