Greetings, all!

I have been on a baby blanket kick as of late and found a new pattern I loved! After trying the 12-point star, AKA round ripple, and somehow ending up with a giant octagon before throwing in the towel, I set my sights on the 8-point star. And here it is!



I used the only two heathered yarns I had to make this blanky. I don't recall the exact link to the pattern, but I found it through Google. At the top of the peak it said to do 3dc, ch 2, 3 dc and then the next row to do 2dc, ch2, 2dc; alternating these rows would keep the blanket from rippling. Strangely enough, that was exactly what caused a giant ripple in my first attempt. I soon realized that I needed to do all 2dc, ch2, 2dc, so I ripped out all my rows and began again! This time it turned out great.



It is 28" across from peak to peak, and 23 1/2" across from valley to valley. I ran out of gray and I gave up buying yarn for Lent, so this is as big as it'll get. I'm working on another now and will make it bigger

I finished the blanket in about 8 to 10 hours, completing it in three days (I was unfortunately riding to my great uncle's funeral with my parents and this is what I did with a lot of that time just sitting in the car. It helped me to process my feelings, I love how crochet does that.

Time for another baby blanket (it seems everyone I know is having babies!)

A dear, dear friend of mine is expecting her second child and this time around she is having a girl! I had discovered this lovely pattern on http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/granny-stripe.html and figured this would make an awesome baby blanket.


(Please excuse the towel on my head. My hair was still wet from the shower when my best friend took this pic!)

I am so pleased with how it turned out! I used Vanna's Choice baby (the pink and blue), Caron (the creamy white) and Loop & Threads Impeccable (the purple) worsted weight years. It measures 34" across and is 36" long.

It was a big hit at the baby shower. Two of my dear friend's aunts threatened to snatch it and use it as a lap blanket because they were wearing purple and blue tops and it matched their outfits. Everyone loved how "professional" it looked. I was so glad that it was so well received.

Here it is, my first project post!

A lady I work with knows I love to crochet so asked me if I could make her a scarf in these colors. I've been crocheting for ten years but I'd never made a scarf before! I've been working on it on and off for a few weeks now and I finally finished it today  





Yay!



It is 6" across and 80" long. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable worsted weight yarn because I wanted an acrylic yarn that was a good value and reasonably soft. This is all just sc done with an h hook. I didn't use any pattern, I just winged it  

I kind of wish I could keep it myself. I know my coworker is going to love it!
