House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Braided Rag Rug
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: I used this tutorial to make a braided rag rug out of some old bed-sheets. I started making the braid in July, but put off actually sewing it together. I sewed it by hand this time, but next time I'll be using my sewing machine. (I only used the braid I had made in my before picture; I'll used the rest of the rag strips to make another rug.)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean: Pumpkin
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Pocket Notebooks
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: There are a lot of places I would love to go, so I made a pair of pocket notebooks that I can use to make lists of all the places I want go and the things I want to do and see. I made the notebooks out of a cereal box, some lined paper, and some scrapbook paper. I got the idea from this website, but I made my notebooks small enough that I could just use staples to keep the pages together. I glued scrapbook paper on the inside covers to cover up the colored part of the cereal box.

(The eraser was just there to keep the notebook closed Tongue)

~*OWL PROPOSAL HEADER*~
OWL Subject & Option(if available): Potions, Option 1- Show off your ability to work with many ingredients by showcasing at least 3 different colors/pattern/textures.  Colors can be monochromatic.  A variegated yarn or one fabric swatch with various colors within it count as one color.
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Christmas Tree Ornaments
Brief Description: My Christmas tree is usually pretty boring (just glitter ball ornaments and a tinsel garland), so this year I want to craft some ornaments for it using felt/fabric/yarn/paper/etc. I want to make at least 25 ornaments, and I plan to start October 27 and finish November 17-24, making about one ornament per day.

I hope this is an acceptable OWL?

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Dumbledore's Army - Have a Drink in the Hog's Head
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Oatmeal Cookies
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: For this challenge, I made oatmeal cookies to share with a group of friends while we played board games. Smiley The original recipe came from a family member, but I changed a few things based on the ingredients I had available.

Quote
Oatmeal Cookies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together dry ingredients:
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Add to dry ingredients:
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp (1 1/2 tsp) vanilla
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp (7 1/2 tsp) milk

Mix together. Drop dough by teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake ~8 minutes. (The baking time wasn't included in the original recipe, but 8 minutes worked for my oven.) I ended up with 33 cookies.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Infinity Scarf
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: For alchemy class, I made a crocheted infinity scarf. I didn't use a pattern; I just made a chain the length I wanted the scarf to be and double crocheted into each stitch until it was tall enough. I gave one end a half-twist when I sewed the ends together so it only has one side like a Mobius strip.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Dumbledore's Army - Fear of a Name Challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Knit Dishcloth
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: This dishcloth is my first completed knitting project. I've been practicing knitting off and on for a while, but I kept avoiding working on a real project, thinking it would be too difficult and fearing failure. I finally decided to just make something and used this dishcloth pattern. I like knitting now that I know I can do it, and I've already started my next project.  Tongue
