21  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Big granny square issue - lost the end on: December 10, 2011 08:53:48 PM
So, I'm making some blankets as presents this year - so far they're both giant granny squares. I finished one that I began as a rectangle (with a long row at the beginning), and I really liked the shape of it at the end.
I started the second one as more of a square, so I added some rows on two of the sides later, to make it a bit more rectangular. Only, I somehow lost the end of the round in the process! Now I've been continuing along in the round, but I have no idea how to end smoothly.
Any suggestions for getting the end back/starting a new round again or somehow ending smoothly?
Thank you in advance!

I just used a skinny brush and was really careful! I based them on someones cosplay version. I painted around a spool of ribbon to make the large circles and then went from there. I was scared to not use a stencil but I think it wouldn't have come out right with one!

Oh! Now I remember what else I forgot to write about! The little pillow is a catnip toy for your kitty (mine tried to steal it!). I was really proud of the painting on the little earring box!
Also, I hope the arm warmers fit your arms! Here are some other pictures of them:

I never made anything like them before!

The fairisle link hat and mittens are totally amazing!!! They look great but so complicated! Were they hard? I can't even knit but I do crochet and I hope color changes are easier in knitting cause looking at those makes my head hurt trying to think how to crochet it :p

I got my package from DustyChica a few days ago, but have been swamped so here it finally is!

This was on top when I opened the package, a great crocheted pillow with the Medallion symbols from Ocarina of Time! I don't remember if I have it upside down or not, but it's great either way, and subtle! so people who don't know what it is will just think it's awesome and not nerdy ;p

Next, an awesome Makar tote. He's so colorful and perfect looking! I love the shading on the felt that makes it look just right Smiley And on the back of the tote is the Wind God's Aria. In that picture you can also see the little notes DustyChica left me - a treasure chest and little Navi Smiley

Visible in the last picture, earrings inspired by the pearl necklace and dark pearl loop from Spirit Tracks.

Extra, and totally spoiling me!, an awesome shawl in Caron Spa yarn so it's super soft and nice against my skin Smiley I dunno how she knew I was dying for a shawl or cowl or something, but I was and now I have a completely awesome one! I wore it the other day and got loads of compliments.

Here's everything:

Thank you so much DustyChica! I love everything!

Still crafting away! Finished a quick extra thing and slogging away at a large (I think?) and medium. Sometimes I'm much too impatient for my crafting-speed (soo sloowww with some things)!

Small done! Made it once... didn't work quite right though my fianc and his friend said it was fine. Made it again and now I'm satisfied with it. Much better! But I'll probably send both anyway and my partner can judge whether the first one is okay.
The medium is organized out and just needs to be put together (just :p).
Large... still not yet. I feel like I'm not doing enough with the things my partner has said she likes from LoZ, so I'm going to have to ponder over that a bit while figuring out the large.
I did find a box and put together some extras, though! Here's to hoping whatever large I come up with still fits in the chosen box. Not that there's any lack of boxes around here with packing going on Smiley

Two somethings started - I think a small and medium. Still planning the large!

Also working on ideas! I have tomorrow off while my fiance works so it'll be a good time to get crafting!
