1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Jacob's Snakes And Ladders - epic scrap blanket on: February 29, 2012 10:50:20 AM
That blanket is gorgeous! The colors look awesome and I love how it's kind of gradated (is that the right word?).
I've never heard of Jacob's Ladders before and seeing that progress picture has me totally awed! I need to learn how to do that!

The fus ro dah hoop is awesome! I love the earrings, too. Awesome package!

So glad you like everything, Goomba!
To start off, you didn't really seem like a sparkley ribbon person but it was the only ribbon I had. Maybe with black paper? But, anyway...
The earrings were intended for your other half - I didn't make them, they were an extra from an etsy seller after an order mix up. I tried to copy the font they use in Skyrim until I realized that it just isn't that distinctive. The dinos are tattoos! As for the other extras, I bought the sky blue quarter to use for a craft for you, but then it just didn't fit in anywhere and I thought I'd send it along anyway. I ALSO love woodchuck cider - I actually got those openers at a "woodchuck night" at a local bar. I have a new favorite, though (don't tell my beloved granny smith woodchuck), Angry Orchard crisp apple hard cider - it pretty much tastes like apple juice.
I'm very glad that you like everything! I've never done an in character letter like that before, but I thought it kinda worked! After I wrote it I thought that it'd be awkward to include a normal letter as well.

Oh, hooray!! I was a bit nervous cause the fedex guy commented on your address being weird? So glad it got there! And that you like it Smiley

That chest looks awesome, so detailed and colorful! What is it made out of?
The necklace looks great, too. Does it have clips on either end? If so, it reminds me of those sweater clip things that are meant to hold cardigans mostly together without buttoning them (over shoulders instead of with arms through? dunno). Cool either way Smiley

Wait, you can ask the greybeards where the shouts are?! I guess I should be doing more of the main quest, huh. I've just been wandering around trying to complete misc quests and find dragons. Guess that isn't the most efficient way to play!
I am VERY impressed by the journal, queenofmarigold, I might have to try some bookbinding myself. Smiley

I also finally sent! Hope it gets there soon, Goomba.

I received my package from queenofmarigold a few days ago and finally got the pictures off my camera today! Everything is great, so without further ado:
Here's everything together, including her note!

Here's the bag in action, I'm using it already as it's the perfect size! Big enough to fit my wallet and phone and maybe a book, but not so big that I feel dumb carrying just a few tiny things in it. And the strap is perfect for carrying, not like most totes. Exactly what I needed! Plus (most importantly!) the bleach stencil of the Skyrim logo looks great Smiley

Next, awesome shadowmark coasters! Half of them upside down, haha. I love that they're like a secret code in the game, even if the only one I usually see is the "loot here" symbol. I have need of coasters all over so they will come in very handy!

And, awesomest saved for last, a handmade journal (right? but so well done!) with a bunch of pages written in Dragon! I am totally in awe of queenofmarigold's skills in making this. Even the dragon text is written so perfectly! I've always loved books and so thought bookbinding was just awesome, but I've never tried to make even a tiny book. This really looks professional, though, don't tell me this is your first attempt at this kind of thing - is it? I haven't tried to translate it yet, but I will certainly get on it soon!

I'm so grateful to have gotten such a perfect and great swap package! Thank you so much queenofmarigold!! I may have overdone the exclamation points, haha. Smiley

Okay! I have been super bad about things Sad
I received from queenofmarigold and everything is awesome! I'm in awe of some of her crafting skills! I've taken pictures and I'll get them uploaded to post (and gush about!) tomorrow.
I'm also nearly done my package and I hope to finish up and send tomorrow (ugh a week late). I'm sorry for being late, Goomba, I promise it's coming! I had good ideas for stuff but when it came to the execution I just couldn't get it to happen properly for awhile.

I unfortunately had a rough time this past week - my grandfather unexpectedly passed away last friday and I spent much of this week out of town at the funeral. I'm just feeling mostly better again (having trouble concentrating on anything) so I'm going to try to knock out the last item tonight so I can send Monday.
