1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fairy Skirt on: July 20, 2006 05:55:18 PM
I've had so many pm's telling me the image isn't showing, and I can't see it either.

It is still showing up on my blog http://dunedinite.blogspot.com/ which is where the image is linked from.

Yeah for some reason they don't always show up, I think it is because of bandwidth.

Yep its the blue/green one in by blog that I posted 1/7

Hey thanks for the nice replies!

The photo might not always show up because blogger hosts it and probably has a limit on bandwidth, so sorry if you can't see it!

To make it I just cut out 20 skirt shaped pieces of tulle in different colours and sewed them together. Then I put them on top of each other, played round a bit till the oder looked nice (I ended up putting the lightest colours on top) and made a lining one so the tulle wouldn't scratch.

Then I got a piece of stretch material and put it on for the waist band.

It is so poofy that it stands up by itself!
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Tom Collins (drinking 5 will result in spelling mistakes herewith:) on: July 15, 2006 02:48:09 AM
To inebriate

Slice of lemon
Caster sugar (plain sugar if you are not as posh)
Soda with a twist of lemon (or soda, and a squeeze of lemon juice)
Voddie!
More caster (or not, if not posh) sugar

Soak lemon slice in sugar. Put in glass.

Pour vodka in. Don't think "I'm too sober, I need a quadupal shot". Just give yourself two shots, max.

Top up with soda. I found "Soda with a twist of lemon" at the supermarket and I use that.

Add more sugar if you wish to disregard all dental/nutitionst advice. i did. you'd think I'm rolling in it

looks like lemonade with a slice of lemon. no need for a photo. oh, and the lemon slice WILL float. Don't let it freak you out (gee, I wish someone was around to tell ME that a few drinks ago)

I made a fairy skirt for a "f"-ing party.

10 layers of tulle. no real pattern, just worked. I only have the zigzag top layer because I got drunk (as I am about now) and ripped it. So I had to finish the ripping (nearly cried too)

Here is a picture, not at the "f"-ing party, but at a scrapbooking party we had at work where I dressed up. and ended up in the staff newsletter for the caption contest

I look like I've floating! Aye!!!!

I probably should have cropped the photo, but I'm on my 5th Tom Collins for the night... maybe I'll post the recipe... hhhmmmm
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Big Shirt Dress to fitting shirt dress on: July 15, 2006 02:26:35 AM
I wanted a shirt dress, and the only pattern I could find was six months away from reaching the shops here in New Zealand (where it is winter. and cold. and everyone on craftster is showing their fantastic summer clothes).

Red Cross had a dollar bag sale, and I scooped this... (I'm not wearing the matching belt in this pic)

Before

The shop assistant said "what on EARTH do you plan to do with this"

So...

After

Heaps has been taken off the sides and it has been shorted at the sleeves and the bottom seams,

Wore it to work, got LOTS of compliments, and one rather nasty remark (not that I like THAT girl anyway!) and advice from a couple of style icons who suggested wearing the belt higher, so I did.

I am considering putting darts in the back to make it sit a bit nicer, but I will do that when I have finished all my projects (ie, never)

8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: 101 things you can do with ground meat???? on: January 11, 2006 12:54:31 PM
I'm guessing "ground meat" is what I call mince

Burger Patties
Egg, 250-500g Mince, breadcrumbs, seasonings, onions. Combine, put into patty shapes (I have some tupperware which does an awesome job & you can freeze them in it too). Cook. Less preservatives than stuff at supermarket

Meatballs
Same as above, but shape into balls, then cook with chopped up onions and tomatoes in juice.

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Deer Cushions on: December 21, 2005 06:52:39 PM

I probably should have said - I used the stencil as a pattern, the deer are actually fabric, not paint.

I'm not sure, it was a stencil I saved ages ago so I can't remember.

Used "double sided tape" fabric stuff to stick on the pieces.
