62  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Computer Earrings Tutorial (Img Heavy!) also page 8 and NEW studs page 12 :) on: July 30, 2005 05:48:20 AM
Hello wonderful craftsters!  Grin   As requested I am doing a tut on how to make earrings with photo paper, packing tape and duct tape since you all are so good at sharing info with me.
Like these in the earring binge swap!

Bear with me on this tut - Im very OCD and will probably give you more info than you really need!
I printed out pictures (photos or graphics) on medium weight everyday photo paper (semi-gloss) (you have to print 2 regular and then flip 2 for the back side. (here's where my OCD kicks in - I always print 6 instead of 4 in case I make a mistake)

I covered the pictures with clear packing tape then covered the back with duct tape for stability.

Then I put double face scrapbook tape on the back of the flipped pictures before I cut them out (it's really really thin tape) You can use almost any type of strong glue if you want but this is the neatest fastest option.

Then I cut them out

Then I make as small a hole as possible in the top - I used my burny tool but you could probably use a thumbtack. Then I colored the edges black with a paint marker. (I tried Sharpies but they bled onto the earring)

then you add beads and wire and embellish them whatever way you want
and Voila!

You can use any picture you want. I've made teddies, butterflies, angels, Jack skellington, Larry the cucumber (don't you just love VeggieTales?) (of course you are only allowed to sell the ones made with copyright free images...)

The hearts, penguins and tigers I took photographs of my scrubs and printed them to make earrings to match them)

Let me know if this is clear! And when you make some - I'd LOVE to see them!  Cheesy
63  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Duct Tape Hot Pink Picture Purse on: June 26, 2005 07:04:09 AM
For my daughter's friend's birthday I made her a purse using pictures we had taken of her recently using her favorite colors of pink and purple duct tape. I added pink and purple duct tape flower key chains as an extra touch.

What do you think?

I've been off work because of surgery and finally had time to post these pics...

It's a gift for a friend who has been wonderful to my daughter.
(Don't you just love someone that loves your kids?)
It's made the same as my other purses - a picture covered with contact paper and backed with plastic placemats for stability put together with duct tape. I added a chain for accent cuz it seemed to work there.
What do you think?
65  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A different twist on a duct tape rose on: June 19, 2005 04:37:22 PM
In case you can stand looking at one more duct tape rose ....

The rose is made in all one piece and twisted like a ribbon. Hot pink and Lime : )
66  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary Scrapbook Invitation - Opinions needed!!! on: June 17, 2005 04:23:35 AM
Hey! My parent's 50th wedding anniversary is coming up and I am trying to venture into the world of scrapbooking (mostly digital). Scrapbooking has come a long way from just sticking pictures in a book and writing underneath them. It's kind of intimidating to me because this is such an important project. The only thing I have done so far is their invitation but it will be the first page in their scrapbook and kind of sets the whole theme. I would love your brutally honest opinion of it - My parents mean the world to me and I want this to be perfect. (Course I am doing this with no money and not much time, hence the digitalization) I will be combining a little of the traditional way too.
Well, here it is..... (some quality gets lost in making this small enough to post)

Thanks!

70  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Problems with Duct Tape on: March 03, 2005 03:23:54 PM
I've just recently started working with duct tape and I love it but I've run into a few problems I was wondering if anyone could help me.

1.  When I make a wallet after someone uses it for about a week or so there is all kinds of sticky tape residue all over the inside. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to prevent that?
2. Is there something I can use to write/paint on duct tape that won't come off? Ball point pen wipes off - permanent marker comes off with water and paint markers work wierd on there.
3. I had another question but it got lost somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my mind. Oh well.

If anyone has any ideas to help I'd really appeciate it!
