We have a serious problem with our dogs wanting to sleep in the bed with us. Locking them out doesn't work because Hunter won't stop scratching till we give up and let him in just to keep the door from being demolished. I have bought several dog beds and put them on the floor in our bedroom but they don't like it because they can't be near us. Okay - I admit, I have totally spoiled them! But when they are in the bed with us they hog the whole bed! Why do dogs have to sleep sideways anyway? My hubby was not happy!
Anyway.... I had a shining light bulb moment and I took our old hope chest which was in really sad condition and pushed it up against the end of our bed.

I took off the torn vinyl and covered it with a really soft blanket and filled it with soft stuffing

And now they can be close to us but not in the bed with us.
And it worked!! Well, for Hunter anyway... Duke loves it too but still winds up burrowing under the covers and sleeping in the crook of our legs... Oh well, one out of two ain't bad

Especially since Hunter is the biggest bed hog and without him it feels like our bed is twice as big!
And here is a picture of the boys showing their approval of their new bed.

I know it's not really great - but we sleep much better at night now

Thanks for looking!
