121  Re: Earring Binge Round 2! in The Swap Gallery by kaleesi on: October 04, 2005 05:26:11 PM
Here's my amazing earrings from Bobolink!
She used all my favorite colors I listed and put on a cool cross and they look even better on cuz they hang so pretty and she even included a zipper pull which is really neat cuz mine had broken off my wallet so I put that on there and now I have prettiness all the time : )

And you can't tell, but the zipper pull has the absolute coolest heart clasp on it - I've been searching the internet ever since so I can buy some -
I really love them all!  Thanks so much Jessica!
And I'm sorry to all my partners - but I'll probably be sending out right at the deadline.... I'm slow..

I got mine from Pink_Dinasour!

She put in lots of scrapbooking stuff because I'm just starting on that and beads and cool buttons and stuff and some zippers which is cool cuz I've been wanting to see if I can make a duct tape purse with a zipper and I've almost bought one several times. Totally cool huh?
Thanks Tanya! and thanks Rakuette for organizing : )

This is probably not what you are talking about - but I got some copyright-free illiustrations from Clipart.com and made a duct tape purse from Alice in Wonderland - I have always been a big fan of the Cheshire cat!!!

Thanks everyone : )
laraannw, this did work up really quick and duct tape is so versatile and fun and sturdy - you could make anything out of it - I'm going to try skulls next since that is my daughter's school mascot for the pirates.
Nushybum, here's what they look like on my daughter

125  Veggie Tales Picture Marble Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by kaleesi on: August 20, 2005 07:58:50 AM
Yet another posting of picture glass marbles - on my bracelet. I couldn't get those forms Leah used so I glued my marbles (with E6000) onto a strip of fake leather I got at Walmart and then put a snap in for the fastener.

Don't you just love Veggie Tales?

Hello wonderful craftsters!  Grin   As requested I am doing a tut on how to make earrings with photo paper, packing tape and duct tape since you all are so good at sharing info with me.
Like these in the earring binge swap!

Bear with me on this tut - Im very OCD and will probably give you more info than you really need!
I printed out pictures (photos or graphics) on medium weight everyday photo paper (semi-gloss) (you have to print 2 regular and then flip 2 for the back side. (here's where my OCD kicks in - I always print 6 instead of 4 in case I make a mistake)

I covered the pictures with clear packing tape then covered the back with duct tape for stability.

Then I put double face scrapbook tape on the back of the flipped pictures before I cut them out (it's really really thin tape) You can use almost any type of strong glue if you want but this is the neatest fastest option.

Then I cut them out

Then I make as small a hole as possible in the top - I used my burny tool but you could probably use a thumbtack. Then I colored the edges black with a paint marker. (I tried Sharpies but they bled onto the earring)

then you add beads and wire and embellish them whatever way you want
and Voila!

You can use any picture you want. I've made teddies, butterflies, angels, Jack skellington, Larry the cucumber (don't you just love VeggieTales?) (of course you are only allowed to sell the ones made with copyright free images...)

The hearts, penguins and tigers I took photographs of my scrubs and printed them to make earrings to match them)

Let me know if this is clear! And when you make some - I'd LOVE to see them!  Cheesy

I got the most awesome pair from mommiemed today - I know the picture doesn't do it justice but I tried!

They are cats on teardrops made out of walnut and bloodwood - and can you believe this - her husband cut them out? I have no idea how he cut out something so small and intricate as those cats but I LOVE them! Thanks Kecia!

And thanks spurtiic. I forgot to mention that I used the computer too when making my earrings LOL. I'll see if I can put up a tut with pictures before the weekend is up. It's hard for me to do a tut cuz I'm so OCD so you'll have to bear with me!
