431  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: MOTHER'S DAY PROJECT IDEAS FOR TODDLER'S WANTED!!!!! on: April 27, 2005 01:06:47 AM
Here is another idea, albeit a messy one!!

For Christmas this year, my daughter (then 10 1/2 months old) created beautiful works of "art" for both sets of grandparents...

I taped 11x14 inch pieces of bristol board to the kitchen table and let her go wild with red, yellow and blue finger paints. Once her paintings had dried, I matted them and put them in thick black metal frames. The end result: contemporary art chock full of sentimental value!  Wink

I found it in the clearance section of my local fabric store - $2/meter!!
433  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / "Rectangul-ish" Crochet Hook Case on: January 29, 2005 08:58:43 PM
Hi everyone...this is my first post but I've lurked around craftster for a few months. I just finished a birthday present for my fianc - a case for his crochet hooks (we had a DIY gifts Christmas so he asked my grandma to teach him how to crochet).

We are both children of the 80s and he is a movie nut so the fabric on the inside has scenes from Indiana Jones. The outside is dark brown corduroy. It is 9x12 inches when it is open. I didn't use a pattern, so it is a bit crooked, hence the "rectangul-ish". Still, I am quite impressed with myself, so I thought that I would post and show it off! Sorry the pictures are so crappy...I used the webcam!

Deleted the pics to save bandwidth!  Tongue

(He made the afghan that the hook case is sitting on!!)
