I made this purse for my friend's birthday. The exterior is a vintage avocado green satin and the interior is a vintage-inspired cotton print. I am SO pleased with the way it turned out that I just had to share:

I used Amy Butler's Madison Downtown Purse pattern. It was really straightforward and easy to follow (and that is saying a lot because I really dislike following patterns!). I substituted Timtex and sew-in interfacing for the fusible heavyweight interfacing - it was a bit of work (because it is so rigid, the Timtex is a bitch to maneuver on the sewing machine - this was especially true when I did the topstitching), but I think the finished product was well worth the extra effort!
The zippered pouch was made using the leftovers. It is lined in the same fabric as the handbag. Want to feel like an applique-master? Take a look at SeaofStars' fantastic machine applique tutorial!! That's how I learned.
I know that not everyone is in love with Amy Butler, but I am so impressed with how clear the instructions were to follow that I would recommend this pattern to anyone! Will definitely be making more of these bags! Thanks for looking!
