belladune: If I'm pressed for time I will, but I was excited about the character I was making. : ( I'd be sad not to finish him. ... but the suit fabric I found -was- rather expensive and I could return it... decisions decisions!

ETA: hmmm... have we anyone who has made or found glasses that fit poppets?

Yipes! I've gathered my swap partner has her heart set on a different character. Luckily he also wears a suit, so my clothing patterns are not in vain, but here's my real dilemma: make a whole new poppet, or make a new head and swap it out?

Oooh, you're ready to joint! .. tugging on the dental floss exfoliated try skin off my fingers (un-happy old blisters from gardening, blech). Have fun with that!

I'm taking a hiatus from the bowler hat, since I don't happen to have any wool to felt (or felt to shape), so I'm making some clothes. I've designed a pair of pants that work really well both sitting and standing (it has a butt-panel, bwahaha), a little undershirt, and a vest. I've still got to make a jacket and a tie (and the hat). I'm going to have a hard time giving this guy away!

Ooh, dreads would be cute!! I've always loved the look of dreads pulled into a ponytail or held back by a kerchief. I'm too chicken to do that to my own hair though.

Belladune: It's stuffed with polyester fill - the average cheap kind. I'm sure I could pull it all off if I wanted to, but it's generally secure. Definitely not meant for kiddos.

ETA: I did give a good yank on it, and if your very thorough with the needlfelting it'll stay, but there were areas I didn't do so well and they slipped right out. It's no good for long hair, but you might get away with a longer cut than my boy. You're limited by the staple length of the whatever breed of sheep you get.

Thank you gold-fish pollywog.

I finished my attempt at making the bowler hat. it's kinda cute, but it's problematic. One problem is, it's too small. : ( It fits on his head, but it really should extend over his ears. 2: The brim keeps coming off as well, and I can't sew it on easily, and 3: it's pointy. so I think I'm going to make a go at one of the other methods mentioned here. But, I've got a half-sphere just the right size for his hat, so that's one thing I don't have to worry about. XD

Inez! Great ideas ^_^

I started a papier-mach base for a hat, and I'll see where that takes me, but I will definitely try either or those ideas if it doesn't pass muster. I love to knit, so that would work wonderfully.

Thank you rasita ^_^ Alas, I did not see your reply, and came up with a different way to do it! I'll have to make another poppet and do a picture tutorial, because I -really- like how it turned out. I needlefelted wool roving on his head. It became a combable mop, which I trimmed into just what I wanted. ETA: he's even got sideburns!

Still figuring out the bowler hat! The curved top is what is the challenge... and the rolled brim... okay, all of it... I've got some felt though, ready to play and figure something out.

ETA: Pics!

( I LOVE that he can stand on his own two feet. XD)

I've got all my body parts scattered all over my desk. XD I wish my Joanns had had a better flesh color, but this color works for the character I'm making. He looks dirty, and that's just as well. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a bowler hat for my poppet? And short hair? (I'm still hunting through this thread, but it's taking a while!!)
