11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Adults Only Swap (18+ NSFW) CLOSED! Send: August 13th on: July 16, 2010 11:47:21 AM
Whoooo! I'm back from vacation. I'm all done my smalls since they travel well, and I'm on to my first medium.
Blast you and your local JoAnnes or however else you spell it! My local fabricland has... uh... an unusual collection.
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Canadian 55cent swap? on: July 10, 2010 08:30:31 PM
I'll DEFINITELY join this 'un. USA only swaps make me sad, so I'd LOVE to see the Canadian equivalent!
One week sounds totally manageable to me, but two weeks gives lots of breathing room.

So you did! Almost lost it in the rush.

The Marquis du Sade was a strange and interesting man. Thank you for stretching my horizons, Scissorhands.

I'm about to harass my partner for more details. Lookin' for some inspiration on this, since I want a unifying theme for my package.

Three cheers for GreenFaerie! You saved our bacon, love.

Excellent point, efirechild. Why would'ja craft it if you wouldn't want it yourself, right?

I would kill for a set of crochet thigh high fishnets!!

All this talk of fishnet makes me want to learn how to crochet. (Watch out, I'm just craaaaazy enough to do it!)

I'm pretty much DYING to see who my partner is and start craftin' up a storm. I'm on vacation next week, so I'm going to need something to keep my hands busy.

You two absolutely must join. You simply must.

Yes! Except i  hope we get a few more people to make it a little more interesting Smiley

Funny you should say that. When I saw the theme of this swap, the first thought that came to my mind was how "interesting" all the applications must be.
I can't help but wonder if we're a vanilla bunch, or a kinky crew.

I'm also very excited to see who I'm partnered with.

Where would one find buckram?
And with what does one remove eyelash glue, toupe adhesive, spirit gum, etc.?
If you can find a place which carries hatmaking supplies, they're practically guaranteed to carry buckram. Those are few and far between, though. Buckram is available at my local fabric store (Fabricland). It is commonly available wherever material for clothesmaking is available-- my local quilting store doesn't have it, and neither does my local upholstery store. Buckram is usually qualified as a "stiffener", so look wherever they keep the interfacing. Ask the staff if all else fails.
As for the removal of sticking agents...
SharLaMarz makes an excellent point about allergies, so please be sure to ask your partner the right kind of questions if you intend to include pasties in your package. (I'm lucky enough to be rash proof.)
Most brands of eyelash glue wash off, as was stated by Starcakes. In my experience, it's also fairly non-reactive since it's designed to go near your eyes. Spirit gum, on the other hand, is nasty stuff. It's heavy duty (so no worries about those pasties going flying) but I'm not sure even I would dare to put it near my nips. Some people swear by it, though. They use a special formula of Spirit Gum remover (sold wherever Spirit Gum is sold) or rubbing alcohol to remove it. Same goes for Toupee goo and tape, by the by. Rubbin' alcohol is your friend in sticky situations.

thank you so much champion you f-ing rock!!!!
Always a pleasure, guys. Always.
