2  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Son of SNB on Ice! (aka the book tour) on: November 24, 2007 07:34:46 PM
Hey there stitchers:

Tomorrow I'm getting on a train and heading out for a three-week book tour, in support of my latest release, "Son of Stitch 'n Bitch."

I'll be giving a little presentation about the new book, bringing along a whole bunch of projects for you to fondle in real life, and, of course, signing books.

Check out the schedule, below, and if I'm coming to your neck of the woods, please come on out and holla at me. And lemme know you're a Craftster!
Hope to see you!

hey guys - debbie stoller here again. happy to see your reviews so far! I'm heading out on book tour soon, and trying to figure out which projects to take with me to show in person. Please post here (or email me) the projects you are liking the very best. There are only so many that i can take along with me, since i travel by train and need some room in my suitcase for my own stuff as well, but the items that excite you the most are the best ones for me to bring. thanks!

the release date is 3rd week in october, november, i thinks.
oh, and the title is SON OF STITCH 'N BITCH, not SON OF A STITCH 'N BITCH.

you know, like son of godzilla or whatevs.

but i think that mistake is going to follow me everywhere.s
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Lil Monkey: emergency help needed!!!! on: March 16, 2007 04:45:23 PM
hmm, well, you definitely do get 14 sc *but* the very first chain (the turning chain) is *not* being counted as one of those. In fact, just make your slip stitch into the very first sc (not the turning chain) and you'll get back on track. Try drawing it out (there's a section in the book on reading crochet diagrams) and you'll see that it works.Good luck. You're right, though, this is a lot to do in 3 1/2 days - but if you're already up to the monkey heads then maybe you're doing okay!
8  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Stitch 'n Bitch Page-a-Day Calendar!!!! on: March 14, 2007 05:00:40 PM
the thing is, i totally *do* talk about the history of men knitting, both in the guilds, as well as during WWII (and WWI). However, for the past 400 years or so knitting has been mostly women's work, and thus mostly looked down on. In my book I associate the STIGMA against knitting as having arisen as a result of this connection with women. And I stand by that. I can't think of many things that men do that have a related stigma. I also say in the book that I really want to see more men knitting, that that is as important as seeing girls playing soccer, if we're really trying to achieve equailty--I'm totally supportive of the dicks with the sticks (however, although the mens' book will have exclusively patterns for men, i do want to mention that is squarely aimed at knitters of both genders). I don't know what it was about my position that got the menknit.net's dude's knickers in a twist, but in any case, i still appreciate the site, which is why it's in the calendar.

Here's the men's mag, by the way, it's pretty cool (but seems to have stopped publishing?)
