231  Re: Blythe and Pullip Favorite Color Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by suereal on: July 08, 2011 09:55:24 AM
UPDATE: Originaly posted in the wrong place.  Now mooved to where it should be.

I'm going to post 2 pics of the things Zoey and I came up with for BP and Madison.  Just so KK will have something to tided her over till the weekend  Wink

I found a cool tool at a thrift shop.  It's a spool knitter, but I just have to crank it's handle to make the cord.  So one can make miles of cord easy.  SO I made a bunch of cord from baby wool (it's a nice soft minty green...not the odd color in the photo), then I just zigzaged the cord while I spiraled it.  I used tissue under it to keep the machine from eating it.  I'm hoping it fits beside Madison's bed, so she won't get cold feet first thing in the morning.

As everyone knows by now, BP loves thimbles, so I wanted to do some craft with them.  When I found the little yellow thimble I wanted to do something for her rubber ducky themed bathroom.  So I clued it upside down to a button, then added bits of the smallest fake plants I could steel from my Mom's collection of fake flowers (she said I could).  It was so cute, I had to make a few more.  SO this is one for the bathroom, a fern for the kitchen, and the other for bedroom or living room.

So now BP doesn't have to rush the ever important photo shoot Grin

UPDATE:  I had posted this in the wrong place...so its' moved now Grin

OKies, so BP said I should post if I want to.  So get ready for a pile of pictures...I had kind of forgotten how much I sent.  Just keep in mind she sent me Madison's former body (!).  So here we go..

This is a souvenir tray from Reno, and 2 slices of watermelon for Madi's Kitchen.  The plant is the fern from the photos earlyer

A few more things for the kitchen.  They're lipgloss containers, but I am not sure that BP should trust the lip gloss Grin.  The rubber thimble is for BP.  The bowling pins are for the extra room in the basement that BP had mentioned.  Now she can have a bowling alley *giggle*.  And I got the clock in a bag of doll furniture at a garage sale.

BP had mentioned she was thinking about a rubber ducky theme for the bath room.  And every where I went after that I kept finding small rubber duckies.  So now she has an assortment and some holiday ones.  The white and brown one was from a coin machine, so I didn't get to choose it.

I found a nice bit of terry cloth at a thrift store.  It is nice and light weight, but still well made cloth.  I'm pretty sure it's vintage.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make a spa set, since BP had posted the one doll at the spa pic.  So this is a set of bath sheets, hand towels, and wash clothes.

And here's her matching bath robe.  I couldn't get the color right on this pic.  The pic of the towels is more what it looks like.

I'm having trouble getting the hosting to work for me...so I'll keep trying, and post the other pics if it works.

233  Re: Crafty Detective Round 7 SUPER PICTURE HEAVY in The Swap Gallery by suereal on: July 06, 2011 07:16:37 PM
I received my angel package today from...................THE AMAZING THANATE!!!  And everything is fabulous Grin  Lets get to the pics...crafty stuff first Grin

My new sleep mask.  Is it not the coolest ever??  I LOVE the eyes.  They should definitely look out for me while I sleep.

Check out me new Lucky Monster Foot USB!!!!!!  SSSQQQQQUUUEEE! Ssssqqqquueeee, ssqueee *cough*, I mean I just think this is so cool.

A bunch of random monster eyes.  These are just the right size to throw at people to get there attention.  They will make nice pin cussions too

Then thanate combined my love of cryptozooligy and ATC's and made me a set of 7 suereal animals...

*The first card is for the Amoeboid Zingat-Ularians...also featuring Zaphod Beeblebrox.
*The second is the Leonine Gastropod, and it says,"A cousin of the famous sphinx, the Leonine Gastropod has the head of a man, the main of a lion, and the body of a snail.  It can be found on rocky hillsides in Greece, but few ever look for it."
*Third is the Lint Bat and it says, "A violent cousin of the dust bunny, the Lint Bat feeds on electricity sucked out of cords that it punctures with it's needle sharp teeth.  Please don not try to pick one up.
*Fourth is the the elusive Twin-Tailed Merynx.  The card says, "According to the guidebooks of the Xargothy plains, the twin-tailed merynx is a shy beast that can only be lured to a campfire by the smell of burnt pop-corn.  Myths and urban legends of the merynx abound, both among tourists and locals, but no documented proof of their existence has ever been recorded.

*Fifth is the Trioptic Octopode.  This card reads, "When the seas boil & the Midgard Serpent fights the Leviathan, the Trioptic Octopode will be ready with a handful of popcorn shrimp to munch on.
*Sixth is the Alligator Hydra.  The card explains, "The Aligator Hydra lives deep in the mangrove swamps of central Florida.  Experts believe that this is what it looks like, but it has probably eaten everyone who knows for sure.
*and , finally, the seventh card, the Punk Spyder.  "The Punk Spyder is not a real arachnid, but it beats up insects in dark alleyways and picks up black widows in bars with stories about how it lost it's eighth leg."

And now the extras!  thanate said she got to add more things to the box because she could send more since she had to send UPS since Canada post was on strike at the time.  She said she added things from the go to thrift box.  I wish I lived near her, cause if this was stuff to go away, I can't imagine how amazing her house is Grin.  So anyway, here come even more photos..

rhinestone skulls, a pattern book for dolls (Zoey loved this), the cool post card she sent me a note on, and the little things in the baggy are parts for a pink space ship.  Each bag has a few parts for a bigger ship, and she sent me all the parts.  I have the perfect place for a pink space ship.  I have no idea how you knew I needed THAT *grin*.

a cthulu calendar!!  Out of date, but that is no issue.  Not only are there totally charming chibi cthulus on every page, there are interesting things about each day.  I will definitely read it through before I cut it up.  The yellow is a little note pad.  She clearly did a ton of research on me because it says "I love it when I am right.  Which is ALWAYS."  I don't know how thanate found out I am always right....sometimes it seems like I'm the only one that understands that!  The things above the note pad are cute little punch out animals that one can put together.  The tiger was fun to make, and it is sticking together pretty good so far.  I  made that one first cause it's the year of the tiger.

A few things in bubbles.  I love coin bubble machines..partly due to the cute little bubbles.  These are cool cause they are totally round.  I love the little sea pets in them.  The one with the handle is a purse and pet piranha for my doll Zoey.  It's perfect for her.

a cute butterfly kite.  It's really sparkly on the other side.  I'm going to try and fly it off the balcony next time we have some wind.

All this cool tiny stuff was in a tic tak box.  The lucky stars are sooo tiny!  I could never fold that small.  I love the skull bead.  I don't have one like that.  Beside the skull are 2 tiny white beads with one brown spot each.  They are perfect tiny EYES!!.  I also love the velum skulls and bones.  Definitely will be used.

Hang in there, only a few more pics to go...

Then she sent me this wicked hard cover book called Play With Your Food.  I have been meaning to get it from the library to have a look (I've seen this guys work all over the place) and now I don't have to Grin.  The other 3 pics are just some of my favos from the book.

And lastly, she sent me something I have wanted for a long time.  The Avenging Unicorn play set from Archie McPhee's.  I had the Good vs. Evil Unicorn play set, so now each of my corns has a person to skewer Cheesy

So Thank You so much thanate, for turning this swap compleatly around for me with your ohh so fun package!!!

Canada post was nicer to me then poor VanGo87.  I received my exactly perfect knit fingerless gloves from DesignVigilante yesterday.  They are the perfect color and fit perfectly.  They will be nice and worm too.  They are a wool mix, but not scratchy at all.  She also says then can be machine washed, but I will be taking her advice to wash them by hand anyway.  I also got a pouch of instant coco, and since we are still running around 55 degrees around here, it may not have to wait till winter to get consumed.

Thank you so much DesignVigilante.  They fit perfectly, which is not an easy feat since I have gorilla arms.  I would never have been able to buy a pair of pre-made ones that fit me.

236  Pet electric squid cuff--My first quest into wearable electrics in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by suereal on: June 29, 2011 12:18:37 PM
My Hub and I were fortunate enough to be able to go to the first Vancouver Mini Makers Fair ( http://vancouver.makerfaire.ca/ )last weekend.  Tons of fun for many reasons.  But what I was mostly excited about was I bought a small Get Started Sewing Electronics Into Stuff You Wear Kit from www.polymathdesinlab.com 's booth.  I spent the rest of the day thinking about what I would do with it when I got home.  And that night, I made this...

It's a wrist cuff, and the mantel of the squid flashes red, green, blue, and white.  It also flashes slow and fast, so it is changing all the time.

The battery just slips into a holder sewn between the 2 layers

I was so chuffed when it started to flash!  The snap is the switch.  So when you put it on, it starts to flash.  It was pretty easy.  One just has to be careful about not crossing the conductive thread paths.  The directions that came with the kit has a web site (that is pass word protected) with videos of the things she has designed for the kit to be used for.  The written instructions were rather easy to follow, but the video did help me get it all worked out in my head.

So, I've been busy figuring out what my kawahii collection will look like and I would like to introduce my fist character....

I'm not a graphics person, so I was not sure how to do what I was thinking, but this is close enough for starters.  Here is their web site...http://suereal.weebly.com/deepdeep--co.html
More characters to come...

So I fake joined the Rabdom Acts Of Kindness Swap, which was to do 3 random AofK.
Number one here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=369575.msg4425226#msg4425226
Number two here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=369575.msg4463481#msg4463481
and her response:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=369575.msg4475085#msg4475085

And I did a post a long while ago that showed the blind box I bought myself and promised to show the end paint job, so here we go....

Acrylic Grasshopper Green paint (which is not sticking too well.  I bought some spray sealer today to see if I can stop that.)  I used a Pilot Perma Ball Med. rolling ball pen and it worked surprisingly well.  It would scrape some paint off some times, but the ink fills in the gouge.  I did have to clean the pen tip often.  Put it never did smear.  I would work a small area and then let it dry well.  It took me about 3 days to get it done, working here and there.  I'm calling him LoveHat because one hand says LOVE and the other says HAT...I was not in the mood for an E....He was fun, and he looks cool with my other odd things  Grin

I received a super cool package of ART from zzdia today and it is all FAB!!  The pics are not as good as I would like as I could not get on to picnik to edit them as I would normally

Firstly, this uber cool tentacle pic.  It's painted on fuzzy black velvet paper.  How cool is that??

Then, there is a set of 6...yes SIX, adorable skully animals.  I'm not going to attempt to try to pick a favo, as they are all so wicked.

Now, she claimed me for some wall art, which the above clearly covers, so I was delighted to pull this stunning extra out of the envelope....

Not only did I get wall art, I got torso art!!  Feast your eyes upon my new favo T shirt!
She included 2 bricks of Premo poly clay, which I'm sure will come in handy at some point.

Thanks so much zzdia!  I love everything  Grin

Tho I managed to miss the sign up, teachart asked me if I wanted to swap anyway.  Said yes of course. And thelastkodama said we could post here.  I finally got my package from teachart, so here is said photo.

OCTOLADY!!!  Her eyes are tiny bits of mirror.  And it was stuffed with all kinds of itty bitty coolness.  From the tiny plastic girl (who Octolady keeps trying to eat), to death in the boat (like jack in the box?), everything is just perfect for me.

Thanks a bunch teachart...and thelastkodama for letting us play along Grin

oo and here is a link to the whole cool package she sent...
