1  Re: 3D Bug Swap - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by suereal on: November 24, 2014 03:27:03 PM
What an excellent bug infested gallery!  And now I get to add to the buggyness.  My package from Glamis arrived today and it is probably one of my new favo things ever...

An actual POODLE FLY!!!  And this one is clearly more domesticated than the wild photos I've seen.  This one has a high end grooming cut.  I imagine it belonged to some Fairy knight or princess or some such thing.  All I know is I'm terribly delighted that Glamis captured it for me...she said it was not an easy catch either...fought her the entire time it seems...She also sent me two adorable ATC..

This is Kyria.  She lives in a toxic waste dump.  She disrelishes daylight.  Her favorite hobbies are: Making snow angels and Art from pickles

And this is Mennowin.  He lives in a little lake fed by sewage water from a nearby nuclear plant.  He is highly intelligent and has a bubbly personality.  He fancies tacky suspenders and likes to suck on coins.

and some yummy Trolli candies, a cool sticker sheet and she covered the card, envelope and shipping box in these cute bug stamps.

Thanks so much Glamis!  I just adore my new little buggy friends Grin

OKies, so out of the 8 or 10 pics the Hub took for me, this one is the only one my eyes are not closed...

You can't see that I'm wearing tiger ears much though...I did just buy some flannel to make tiger pants yesterday Grin

I promised I'd post pics of the drawings gozer did of my dogs, once I got them back from the framers, so here we go..

Mom has a framer friends who did them for us.  She has been framing for about 30 years and does most the framing for the pro painters in my home town.  And she was very impressed by gozer's drawing skills.  She said, (and I quote) "Who ever drew these is very talented!"  And I totally agree Grin  Thanks again gozer!

So...keep in mind I did this quickly with a sliver sharpie and 3 highlighters my Mom had, but something like this?

EDIT:  And I'm already rethinking...I think the top tails should dangle down the sides, and Society of Ernestly Embroidering Nerds should go across the top of the eye...

7  Fake Swap Faux Taxidermy Tiger Chair in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by suereal on: October 08, 2014 03:10:14 PM
Say THAT 6 times fast Grin

So...I've been on a tiger bender recently.  So, a few months ago, I started working on re-covering an old ugly scratchy fabric computer chair.  I had to back out of the recent Faux Taxidermy swap as my left hand was acting up, and I spent at least 5 weeks resting it.  So...now that I can work with it again, I took the opportunity to join the Fake Swap craftalong and get it finished up.

Oh!  Look at that!  The dogs managed to work their way into the photo yet again!  Clever little monkeys Grin

Here's what it looked like before...and don't judge my cluttered and unvacuumed house Grin

The claws are glow in the dark FIMO on foil frames with a screw imbedded at the end, so I could screw them into the arm.  I also quenched the poly clay in cold water to try and get it as strong as possible.

I was not sure what to do with the eyes...but then I realized the plugs on the sides of the arm rests were missing, so I just hot glued peg eyes into the holes, after trimming the pegs a bit.

The tail was a bit hard to decided on the method of attachment.  I wanted it to be stiff but not too stiff.  I settled on a coat hanger straitened out, covered in cotton batting with a pipe insulator over that.  I used some two part epoxy putty to make sure the coat hanger was good and stuck in.  I was lucky, as there was a hole in the chair back support just where I wanted to drill one Grin.  The wire extended past the end of the cotton batting and the pipe insulator extended past that, so I sealed up the rest of the pipe insulator side and filled the space with plastic bean bag pellets, so the very end is kind of flexible but not soggy.  I plugged the end with a wad of batting.  The skin is just a tube with the end rounded.  The tail is the only thing sewn by machine.  All the rest is just sew directly onto the chair by hand.  The tail hangs just right over the back of the chair, so i didn't have to attache it in anyway.  The ears are inch foam from a package, cut into the ear shape and covered by the fur.

When i bought the material...many many moons ago...like 4 moves ago, I was going to make tiger pants...just to wear around the house Grin.  I decided to not cover the back of the chair so I could save some to do another thing with.  I might pin stuffies to the back as a way to display them and pay homage to BirdBones stuffie throne.  It will live in my laboratory and from hence forth be called THE CHAIR OF UBER CONTEMPLATION!!!

Thanks for looking Grin

OKies...so...BirdBones and I have this on going personal swap thing going.  I send her stuff...she sends me stuff...no one is keeping score here.  And I just got this FABO package from her today, so I wanted to share it Grin...hhhmmmm...where to start...where to start...

with EXTRAS!  She lives on Mars...no wait...not that far away, but it seems like it most of the time Grin.  So she sends me all kinds of toys I can't find here...like those Grin  I keep picking up laser fingers at the dollar store and putting them down...so THANKS a ton for those BB Grin

My FAVO is this little poodle charm..

t translates to "Poodle of DEATH!"  HAHAHAHAHA

lets do the candy next..

Yummy Yummy German candy!  just LOOK at the size of that Kinderegg!  On Holidays we can get large kinder eggs, but I think, from something BB said, she can get these SUPER sized Kinder Eggs all of the time.  This one is mine.  She sent another one, wich I gave to my Hub, and it's on his desk....I just forgot to get it for the photo Grin

I'm saving the stuff she made till last...so lets do the cards now Grin

Most of these are from a toy museum...but there is some stuff from an Aquarium too.  The lower right one translates to  Wandering Sausage!...and it's a real sea creature too Grin

now...lets see...let's talk about the badges and pins..

I KNOW!!!!  All of these are made by the amazing BB! The top two on the right are pins, the rest are badges.  The lower four are drawn and then encased in packing tape and then  sewn...she is just so CLEVER Grin

I think this is my FAVO.  I am not sure that most folks get this...I rarely plan things.  I just start to work/play and things happen.  So...yeah....I meant to do it like that Grin

She also sent me a TON of bags....including a water resistant liner for the box it's self!

FOUR bags, a little fabric box and the liner for the shipping box....all I have to say is AMAZING!!!

I saved the most FABO for last..

STUFFIES!!!!!and a FABO MugRug  ERmaGERD!  Any one of these would have delighted me, so just IMAGINE how delirious I am now Grin  The Nomme I have wanted to come and live with me since forever.  Turns out the poor wee thing had a box issue and had to go through some intensive therapy to make the journey.  Makes me love it even more Grin  I also got a stuffie Eyepuff (that's what I'm calling it at least Grin).  And this little Octo from the Aquarium she went to that clearly had to come live with me.  And THENthen, she made me an adorable MugRug too!  I feel like I won some kind of awesomeness award.  You so ROCK JOSE!!!!  And so does craftsters as I wouldn't have BB if it weren't for y'all Grin

WooHOOO!  I'm so delighted!  I have been having a tough time the last month or so due to my hand being "grumpy", but today, I got kwality's package, and it was a great cheer up Grin

um shall I say SSSSSQQQQUUUEEE!!!!?  I have my own Kwality stuffie in a most hugable size.  I keep playing with his top knot Grin.  I'm thinking his name is Rupert...just LOOK at those ittybitty TOES!!!

THEN...

Two...diskies....I'm going to think of them as painted hooplas Grin...of just so adorable monsters.  No one who is in the know will not know who made these two Grin  Rosco and Walendo Grin

and Then then....

Not only did I get an adorable and practical eternal calendar, I got TWO note books.  Now...I'm not sure if I had seen this before, but the books I got from Kwality are not just little lined books.  I got note books with all kinds of different and interesting papers in them....kind of like journal worthy papers.  I thought I got a photo, but it looks like not...

annnnywaaayyy....All done for me and mine as far as this wonderful swap goes.  I'm COMPLETELY delighted!  I have been coveting these things from these swappers for a few years now.  I just hope they are 1/8th as happy with the stuff I sent them Grin.  Thank you LUCKDRAGON for takeing on the Herculean task of orging this swap Grin
