11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Craft My Pet Round Two? on: August 08, 2011 12:38:32 PM
I'm so in for this swap! I'd love to have a cute little reminder of my sweet little kitties while I'm at work! as long as it starts late August/early September...

yeah, a OTT or a TTT (two-Tiny-things) Swap would be awesome! I'm about to start school, and won't have a lot of time to craft. Paramedic class is kind of a full-time attention hog. Sad I might have to re-read a few of my favorites to get prepared for this swap!

if nobody else is interested, I'd be interested in doing a personal swap, at least! I'm glad that there's someone else that enjoys these books (I would LOVE to have a Lady-Slipper Tree!! lol!) Grin

I'd be happy to organize this (or co-organize, since this would be my first time organizing!), is there a time schedule that everyone is looking for? like, maybe sign-ups Sept1-14, and send-outs Oct 12? or maybe something a little later, like in time for Christmas?
15  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Harry Potter Recipes Collection on: July 18, 2011 09:24:50 AM
ok, so I did a little digging, and here's where I found the Pumpkin Juice Mix recipe:
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/features/crafts/food/pumpkinjuicemix
the "orange-flavored breakfast drink powder" is Tang, or the equivalent.
the "regular" instant tea mix is just plain, unsweetened instant tea mix. (to me, it looks like dead, dried ants, which makes more cool/disgusting, but all the more Harry Potter-ish!)
it mixes better with hot/warm liquid, and tastes good either hot or cold. (you can mix it with cool/cold liquid, but it won't dissolve everything, and some of it will sit on top or the bottom (much like tea leaves!) and the pumpkin pie spice hardly ever dissolves, unless you mix it with hot liquid.)
I hope that all makes sense!

I know I sent a jar of pumpkin juice mix... I don't remember if I was the only one or not though.
I do have a recipe, but it's written down on an index card and put into my recipe box... which is still in a box from the move. I'll find it and post the recipe as soon as I can though!
17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Part II GALLERY! on: July 15, 2011 12:38:23 PM
I was a little miffed over Voldy turning in to confetti when he died... but other wise, think they did a MARVELOUS job.

ShockedSPOILERS! Aw, man! now I know what happens at the end... Cry I mean, I've read the books, but I didn't want to know how they did everything...
I'm still excited though! Wink I can't wait to see the end of the movie!

yay! the mitts fit! I was so worried about that... the pattern said "one size fits most" but I think that the pattern was for a small...
yay! everything made it >not< melted! *huge sigh of relief!*
and now that I'm past the swap "will-she-like-this" stress, I realize that I forgot to add one tiny detail to Emerson... so I tell you beware... he will leave pellets behind if handled too much... usually I make sure to train them before sending to not do that... but with everything going on, I forgot.  Sad I'm sorry!

I hope that everyone enjoys the treats! (I certainly enjoyed eating the mess-ups) Grin

alright, so here's some pictures of what I made schultebunny!

okay, so only the pygmy puff is my own picture, I didn't think to snap a shot of anything else, but I have pictures of the original patterns Smiley

so here is the pygmy puff (which my nephew called Wendell, though schultebunny is more than welcome to rename him!):

and the wrist-cuffs (I omitted the buttons when I made them, but otherwise they are identical):

McGonagall's favorite ginger newts:

and the robe (the one I made has long sleeves and a deathly hallows patch instead of Hogwarts Crest):

sorry for the lack of my own pictures, I'm not extraordinarily gifted with foresight (perhaps this is the reason why Divination is my least favorite class) but I'm glad schultebunny likes her package. I'm sure I'll love what she sends me!

I love that name! I was thinking about what I should name him (I finally rescued him from the depths of under-my-bed and from my kitten. she's not happy that I took her favorite toy! but Wendell is totally going with me to the movie tomorrow!)

my co-worker wants me to make her some wrist warmers now! I can't wait to wear these to the theater!

and sadly, the ginger newts are down to the last little baggie... I couldn't keep my hands out of them! (or my stomach away from them!)
yes, please post the recipe, I need to make more to take with me! Grin

and guys, the robe is way more epic than the one in that picture! and it has long sleeves, so it's going to be my going-to-the-movies robe, if I don't forget it at work! it's always cold in the office, and it's perfect to wear here! Grin

and now I really hope that my treats don't melt like poor oodleboodle's... I packed mine in an insulated bag with some ice packs.. *nervous!!* but with this Texas heat, who knows what could happen! Sad
20  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 5 - Color Spectrum Gallery!! (Send 6/6/11) on: July 13, 2011 06:19:14 AM
Shocked I'm totally wisting that hoop you got, thenorm02!
I printed out that very same symbol so that I could embroider it for myself, and now I have a great idea!!! (thanks, sloth003!)
and the sloth is epic! he is such a cutie pie! Cheesy
