1  Re: Jacob's Snakes And Ladders - epic scrap blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by KismetFyrechyld on: March 03, 2013 12:49:05 PM
Finished the body of the blanket! Waiting until Monday to put on the border, because I'm a moron and left the black yarn for the border sitting at the office... but I should have it finished by Tuesday, making it six weeks from start to finish. Nowhere near as impressive as eight days, but mine wound up being king-sized, so I'm happy with it. Smiley Thanks again for the pattern, it's gorgeous!

I had 24 and a half done... then I decided I didn't like one of them and I'm replacing it with a different color. So I'm back to 23 and a half out of 25. Hopefully I'll finish the other two tonight so I can start adding in the white. This picture shows the 23 finished ones in the tentative layout. I may move them around a bit, but I'm pretty happy with it. Smiley The four corner squares are striped, all the rest are solid or variegated, but without changing yarn anywhere in the square. It's a simple throw, but it's been a major stash buster-I've only bought two new skeins of yarn for it so far, and both were colors I've been wanting to try out for a while. I may have to buy more white for joining it, though. It's all "I Love This Yarn" worsted weight acrylic.

Hi again everyone! It's a new month, and time for a new round of Granny Squares.

This is a motivation crochetalong. The idea is to keep yourself working on your projects by posting progress photos as you go, and posting updates on how much you've accomplished throughout the month. Ideally, one post per week to let everyone know how it's going and at least one progress picture for the month should be the goal.

Yes, the title says "Granny a Day". Are we going to hate you if you can't keep up with that? OF COURSE NOT!!! We all have a lot going on, so if you can't do 31 squares this month, it's OK. The point of this whole thing is to make us all sit down for a few minutes and lose ourselves in granny goodness. I've been working on some of my granny projects for months already, and I'll probably be busy with them for several months more, but it's fun and relaxing to sit down and spend ten minutes on my granny projects every day. You'll be amazed at how often it turns into an hour or more, without you even realizing the time has passed!

If you're new to crochet, there are some great tutorials out there. A couple of really good ones can be found at:

5  CLOSED: November Granny-A-Day 11/1/2011-11/30/2011 in Crochetalongs by KismetFyrechyld on: November 06, 2011 08:35:41 PM
I really hope nobody minds if I start a November Granny-A-Day, since we didn't have one in October and I miss it! I've pulled the info directly from the September thread.

This is basically a motivation crochetalong. If you want to work on a granny square, motif, one huge granny square blanket, this is a great way to set aside time everyday to get some serious work completed in an attainable amount of time.

People have come up with some really neat uses for grannys too! Different bags and blankets, shopping sack holder, slippers, scarves, a nifty pullover etc. I have made 7" grannys and after a month I have 30 squares that make a perfect size throw blanket.

If you are interested and would like to join we would love to see your work! Post pics of progress and then at the end of the month post a pic of all that you accomplished! It would be great if everyone could post progress weekly (but not required). At the end of the month we can piece together our work and show off our afghans and Inga bags and whatever else you can come up with to make with nifty grannies! (Must post a completed project or progress pic in this thread.)

You can find many of the other threads in the crochet-a-long section to see how we have done it before!

Thank you all very very much! I can really see the amount of work that went into each of these, and I appreciate it! Smiley

7  Re: Pepper Pants! in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by KismetFyrechyld on: April 07, 2011 03:21:02 PM
I made mine! Not the greatest picture, but it gives an idea at least.  Smiley

I skipped the soda bottles in the legs, and just used Bonnie seedlings (the ones that you get at the garden center in a peat pot). I have Yellow Boy tomatoes in one leg, Roma tomatoes in the other. I used a couple of safety pins to pull the leg openings in around the main stem of each seedling, so it's adjustable as they get bigger and the stems get thicker. I also planted strawberries in the waistband, since I couldn't decide where to leave the dirt level after I got the tomatoes in. So I just filled 'em up! And then there was wasted space, and I've always been told strawberries and tomatoes grow well together... I decided to give it a shot!

Oh, and my LB plant now has a baby tomato! About the size of a big grape. Cheesy I'm surprised it's producing so soon, because I just put them in about 3 weeks ago, but my Roma is also putting on buds, so I think (fingers crossed!) that it'll be producing fruit soon too!

Finally a progress picture... :

Hoping to get a good bit more accomplished on this over the remainder of April. This and my big honkin black behemoth of a granny are the two I'm focusing on for this month. Smiley

9  Re: ACTIVE: FEBRUARY GRANNY-A-DAY STARTS NOW! in Crochetalongs by KismetFyrechyld on: February 27, 2011 07:32:21 PM
Well, I didn't manage to get much done on my granny afghan this month, thanks to moving and work...But, I did manage to make my very first teddy bear! I had him finished for about 30 seconds before my nephew decided Teddy was his... LOL!

10  Re: CLOSED: January GRANNY-A-DAY crochet a long! 1/1-1/31/2011 in Crochetalongs by KismetFyrechyld on: February 04, 2011 05:06:53 PM
Finally I have progress pictures! I started a third job at the beginning of this month, and I've been househunting, packing, or taking naps in what free time I've had, so I haven't gotten a lot done recently...But it's only about a foot from being done! Cheesy

I really want to finish it by the end of February if I can possibly pull it off with all the moving madness, so I'm in for February too! If any of you Craftsters know of a crochet group in Midland TX or the surrounding area, please let me know-that's where I'm moving back to, and it would be really nice to have a group of people who don't think I'm nuts for carrying ten tons of yarn in my Jeep... Smiley

Anyway, here are the pictures!

(Please disregard the mess next to the bed-we're in the process of moving, so there are piles of stuff that I'm sorting through but haven't boxed up yet pretty much everywhere...)
