5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Recycled Sweater Dolls - Odette on: April 29, 2010 01:00:45 PM
I went to the Goodwill Clearance Center the other day and bought a ridiculous amount of cute sweaters and shirts to make stuffed animals from. This was my first creation. In fact, this was my first doll ever! I'm still getting used to my sewing machine, but I had fun experimenting.

Her name is Odette and she is made from 90% recycled materials, the only thing new is the buttons used to hold her arms on and her nose button (And the stuffing). Her body is made from an old dress, and her dress and flower are made from the sleeve of a blouse. The accent fabric on her face is from an old jacket, which I also got the buttons for her eyes from.

I love how she turned out. And my little girl adores her  Smiley

I almost bought my little girl a peacock stuffed animal, but I've got to say this one is so much cuter than the one at the store! Her tail came out beautifully. I love making toys out of old sweaters, I may just need to attempt a peacock next...
