1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: grow -mushroom DS Case on: November 18, 2011 03:27:45 PM
awesome!  Cheesy One of my first crochet projects was a DS case, but it was just a little DS shaped bag, it wasn't cool like this one  Roll Eyes I've never done tunisian before, but I was thinking about trying it for a project I'm starting now. Is it hard?

It took a little getting used to, its kind of a blend between crochet and knitting and since I already knit it was not that big of a shift for me but I can see how it would have taken more getting used to if I didn't have the knitting background. There are some really great youtube videos that I watched to help me get started, I just searched tunisian crochet and it pulled up a ton of videos.

I worked the pattern out using MS Excel. Just set the cell dementions to squares and use the background fill to change each cell to the right color
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Dr. Sheldon Cooper on: September 24, 2011 02:10:19 PM
I love Big Bang Theory and now have my whole extended family watching it including my 15 year old cousin. After making a shyguy for her sister, she said that what she really wanted was a Sheldon.  Once I recovered from my panic attack, I started planning and a few months later (after work, frustration and remaking pieces of this several times) this is what she got:

My cousin is obsessed with Mario games on her DS so I decided to make her a slip case with the grow mushroom from Mario. This was also my first Tunisian crochet project so I wanted to pick something small and somewhat simple. She loves it.

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / ShyGuy on: August 03, 2010 06:05:39 PM

I made this ShyGuy for my cousin's 8th birthday because this is her favorite character to play as in Mario Kart DS (she was even ShyGuy for halloween last year). He is my third original amigurumi and the hardest part for me was getting the peak of his hood right.

Here's a side view

and a closeup

The colors are actually brighter than they appear in the pictures, the lighting in my room is horrible. For example the band holding his mask and his belt are in fact brown but you really can't tell in these pictures (sorry).

Awesome, I love it!!  You did a great job with no pattern,  did you write anything down as you went?  I would love to make some for my hubby and bro  Smiley

I have very sketchy notes on part of it -like the inc pattern for the cape and the boots but other than that he is really just a series of tubes that start with 6sc in a magic ring and then spiral up to my desired width and length. The ears are squares folded on the diagonal, stuffed and the sides sown together then attached to the head. The bat-signal is a yellow oval with an embroidered bat then attached to the body. I changed colors mid row to make the mouth area of the head then embroidered the mouth and eyes.

This totally rocks my socks, you should do a Snake-eyes next so they can have office battles.
