11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / If you come to a Sea Turtle party.. you leave with a Sea Turtle! on: September 06, 2011 01:44:21 PM
The theme of my gestating son's baby shower is Sea Turtles. According to my BFF 'personalized' showers are all the rage. So.. I made the 'prizes' for the games we will play. Bath Mitts in the shape of Sea Turtles! I used a soft, green towel and standard art felt. They will be stuffed with soaps in a sea theme.

Oh goodness she is such a cutie! I love looking at your posts because your girl is always so happy about her new outfits! Nothing better than your kids actually liking what you make them.

Super! I hated that stage of nothing fitting right.. and don't have a real 'hip' bulge to hold up the shorties so I had to go with the pouch. The pouch really sucks in the Summer! Only a couple more months to go for me.
15  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / T-shirt fetish turned snugglie! on: August 16, 2011 09:11:48 PM
One of the fetishes my Baby Sister and I share is t-shirts. We both like t's with interesting and funny sayings and depictions. For her birthday I made her this t-shirt blanket out of shirts I've worn and now don't fit over my preggo belly, and my stash of 99 cent finds from the thrift store.
She loved it!
I made a 13" pattern out of a paper bag and saved the bottom portion of the t's after I cut them.
I then made two 4x5 square panels.
I sandwiched light weight fleece I've had in my stash for years, between the two layers and machine quilted straight lines across in both directions along the seams of the squares.
I then cut and sewed the saved bottoms into strips and used it as the binding, and made a drawstring bag for it out of another t-shirt.
16  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Rainbow "Fractal" bargello on: August 11, 2011 11:28:17 AM
This is AMAZING. I don't have a lot of patience for piecing at all and I was all proud of myself for the simple 't-shirt' quilt I'll be posting later..

Mine is far less awesome than this.

My Sweetie just picked out this very same fabric to make him a new shirt.. I was going to make the baby a matching one.. but now I think I'll have to make MYSELF a dress to match instead! Hell.. would it be too goofy if all 3 of us matched in sharky attire??

Too cute! I love the dress.

19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Matchy 4th outfits - Cool or Nerdy? on: July 06, 2011 04:56:05 PM
My favorite memories of my mom and I usually include Matchy Outfits. She was an avid sewer and often made us matching get ups.. which then translated into matching outfits for my little sister and I. Does it make anyone wonder why I would want Matchy Outfits for my family too?

Using the same Kwik Sew pattern I used for his Beach shirt, I made Sweetie a shirt using fabric he chose from our local JoAnns.. with a matchy bandanna for our furry little Daisy Fay.

My skirt was a simple circle skirt made for the 4th last year from some thrifted fabric. This year I also added an applique over my Baby Bump to a t-shirt that no longer fit my belly.. until I slit it up the back far enough to let it hang correctly.. Yes.. I have a triangle shaped sunburn on my back.

We got TONS of compliments from strangers as we walked the blvd and Sweetie felt so proud telling them that his beautiful wife sewed them up special.

My little sister had no problem telling us we were such NERDS! I bet she is just jealous. (-;
