I have been drawn (pun intended) to sketching lately. My favorite subject to try to capture on paper with pen or pencil is my 7 yo dd. Here are a few of my attempts.

The two drawings on the left page against the left edge are of her (from 2 nights ago). Top way left was first, then immediately after the bottom way left. The others are just random (starting with the eyes).

The picture on the right is from earlier today.

I know I have a ways to go, but for someone who believe that she couldn't draw for 30 of her 32 years, I am happy with my drawing level and I am so excited to see how far I can go.

I have more photos from this current altered journal over on my flicker site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/readysetjet/sets/72157632440729562/ (I use to know how to do the cool link to just one word thing, but I am out of practice and too tired to try and remember)

I think the  more diversity we get to see in artistic type journals, the better!

I've been pretty busy lately in the craft room. Here is one spread I have finished. I have a few backgrounds I have started if you check out my photo hosting.

I finished making my table in my creative space today, so I have somewhere to work in my altered journals now! I have been feeling a little lost lately, so I plan to create an entire altered journal about who I am and who I want to be.

Looking forward to seeing what others come up with!

It's been crazy, but I could use some journal inspiration/motivation. We just moved to another state and trying to get back into a creative rhythm has been tough.

This is the one page I have been able to make since we got here. It felt good to be creative, but didn't last long enough.

What has everyone else been doing?

It feels so good to be creating again  Grin

This spread was inspired by Nooo ( Here is the pinned page Smiley) I used sticker paper for all of the squares and rectangles. I played around with sharpies, colored pencils, and crayons when we were driving and watercolors once we got to the hotel. I may do more with this page, I'm not sure yet.

This spread is from our recent trip to Ames/Des Moines, Iowa for the weekend. I glued most of the receipts from the weekend to the page, then painted the entire thing with watered down acrylics. I have more plans for this page, but so far I love the little hand drawn details my 6yo daughter and I have added.

And this one was inspired by a few different pages in the latest Art Journaling magazine.

Yes, I do occasionally come up with a spread on my own, but it's been a while and I am a bit rusty, so thanks everyone for the inspiration!

I've just found a book and after I've read it (that wasn't meant to happen actually, i bought it only for journalling :p)

I find that this happens with me, but after I have pulled out a bunch of the pages so I only get bits and pieces of the story.

Welcome, I look forward to seeing some of your pages!

Phizzy- After seeing your blog post, I was finally inspired to dig out my paints, papers, and other crafty stuff and get to work. It was just what I needed, and now I find that I am working in my altered journal each night and it is so relaxing. Thanks!

Turns out my estimate for July creativity was accurate  Grin

Here are a few recent additions to my creative journal.

I have a few more photos at http://kaotickrafter.blogspot.com/2012/07/feeling-creative.html, but these are my most recent (and favorites).

What has everyone else been working on this summer?

Last one for a while, I promise!

After finding my new favorite word last night, I had to make a spread about it.

That's it for a while. Thanks for looking!

Sorry to be hogging the thread, but I wanted to share what I did today (yes, instead of working on my house).

Yesterday and today I worked in my March journal, adding some finishing practical touches.

The meal planner in the middle is from Nooo (Thanks!). She is nice enough to offer a free printable on her site.

After I found myself stamping and what not in my March journal, I decided to find my current journal and get my procraftination (my new favorite word!) on.

And my absolute favorite spread in the entire journal

Now I am off to create a spread about my new favorite word!

Well, I had a mad urge to start making my Altered Journal/planner for March. It might have something to do with the fact that I am trying to get my house packed up and I would rather craft instead or pack, and I would rather craft with my supplies than pack/donate/toss them.

This journal is a lot different than the others I have created in the past. I removed all of the pages from the inside and just reused the cover. All of the paper inside is from my stash of scrapbook paper that has been wasting space in my house for the last 4 years. I figured, I might as well use some of it now!

This is the cover. I just glued some left overs of all the paper I had cut for the inside.

I went with lots of layers

And I also had a few papers that I really loved, so I made sure they ended up as the center folds Smiley

Can't you just pictures doodled airplanes, birds, or even Super Grover flying through this sky?

And how about doodled flowers, trees, or even a horse grazing along the hill top?

I am not sure how I will do my calendars and weekly planners, but I know that I am going to have fun with this journal!

The circles are fun Smiley I love those handy paper punches (which I have acquired from my mother-in-law :O)  )

Sonja- I had to reread my post to figure out how you knew about the Junk Journal Workshop Smiley I will be showing examples and teaching (I use the term loosely) people how to make these

The junk journal was my obsession over the summer, which gave me courage to try out the Altered Journals.

I also have days where I am in the mood to cut, or slop paint around. My husband laughed at me when I asked him one day, "Do you ever just really feel the need to write with a pencil?" He thought I was joking...I wasn't. Some days I just NEED to write with a pencil as opposed to a pen. Whatever mood strikes me, I just add it to my book of the month (which will be neat to look back on in the future). About the only time I work separately is if I have a desire to work BIG, but that doesn't happen often.
