11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Funky Curtains - Dollar Store on: April 21, 2008 11:07:21 PM
I came across some cool kitchen towels at the Dollar Tree last week.  I added them to my fabric stash and waited patiently for some inspiration.

I bought the Roman shades at The Christmas Tree Shop for $10 each. I hung them, but I felt that they needed a little something on top.  Then I remembered those towels. I went back to the Dollar Tree and bought the rest.

I turned them in to a cool valance. I sewed 2 towels together.  Added the ribbon down the center to hide the seam.  I backed them with some fabric from an old tablecloth.  I'm lovin' my new curtains!  I have two towels left.  I might make some pillows.  Not bad for $10 in towels.

12  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Fish and Tie Onesies on: April 09, 2008 06:50:23 PM
I embellished 2 onesies for my little man today.  I used fabric scraps for the appliques.  I think he looks dapper.

13  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dog and Bunny Rabbit - Made From Gloves on: March 22, 2008 09:20:46 PM
I saw these on Martha Stewart a few weeks ago.
They are from a book called SOCK and GLOVE.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1557885168/ref=cm_cmu_up_thanks_hdr.
I made these two guys from gloves.  The black dog is made from those super cheap stretchy knit gloves and the grey rabbit is made from Angora knit gloves.  How appropriate.

Enjoy them.  They were fun to make.

Check out the print or video tutorial on Martha Stewart's website. http://www.marthastewart.com/article/glove-animals?lnc=bf89cf380e1dd010VgnVCM1000005b09a00aRCRD&rsc=comments_crafts&comments_page=1&rsc=comments_more#conversation-container
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Organized Medicine Cabinet on: February 27, 2008 08:29:40 PM
OK.  So I'm a bit anal ... obsessive compulsive ... neat freak ... etc.  My medicine cabinet was a mess. Everytime I tried to get something, tons of other stuff would fall out onto the floor.  I decided to solve this problem with some plastic canvas and yarn.  Enjoy!

15  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Circles and Faux Finish Baby Nursery on: February 04, 2008 01:17:43 PM
This room has gone through MANY changes since we've moved in only 5 years ago.  Here's the latest.  Our son, Jonathan, was born on January 11th.  This is his room.

My husband and I did a lot of work in this room a couple of years ago.  We ripped up an old linoleum floor.  Sanded and refinished the hardwood floor.  We put up crown molding and baseboard molding.  I painted the the room using 2 different faux finish techniques.  Then I cut out circles from wallpaper sample books and used them as a border.

I used a Craftster tutorial to create the letters on the wall.  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=213298.0
My mom got the gliding chair and ottoman for $50.00 at a garage sale.
We painted and reupholstered it.
My mother-in-law refinished the old cradle she used when my husband was a baby.

My husband made the dog bed.  We wanted to make sure he didn't feel left out.

I added some paint to the garbage pail to tie it into the room.

My husband also made the changing table.  There is a company that sells them for close to $200.00.  I showed him a picture and he made it for free.  I love him.

I think Jonathan likes his room.

16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Koi Pond Needlepoint on: January 07, 2008 09:10:46 PM
This is my first completed needlepoint.  My husband bought it and swore HE was going to make it, but he never did.  I ended up making it.  I'm going to give this to my brother for his birthday.  I hope he appreciated the ENORMOUS amount of time it took to make.

17  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / CRAYON TRAIN on: December 17, 2007 08:11:11 PM
I found these wooden magnetic trains in the dollar bin at Target.  My husband drilled holes in them slightly bigger than a crayon.  Then I just popped the crayons in.  They are a little crooked, but I think it looks great.  This is a Christmas gift for my cousin's 2 year old son.

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Glider Chair and Ottoman for Nursery on: November 24, 2007 08:38:53 PM
If you've been to a baby store lately, you've probably seen those Glider Rocking Chairs with the Ottoman.  At over $300.00, I reluctantly put one on my registry, then I took it off.  My mom found a used one at a garage sale for $50.00.   It was in desperate need of a makeover.  My husband gave it a coat of paint and I recovered the cushions.  I forgot to take a before shot, but here's the after.

19  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Crayon Apron and Name Block on: November 24, 2007 08:21:58 PM
For Christmas I like to make something for my cousin's kids.  Here's what I made this year.

Sadie is 3 years old.  This year, she gets a CRAYON APRON.  I love how this turned out.  I think it's the most adorable thing I've made.  I saw a similar apron in a magazine for $22.00, and I instantly thought, "I can make that!"

Lena is almost 1 year old.  I made her a FABRIC BLOCK with her name on it.  It is loaded with ribbon loops for her enjoyment and it has a bell inside.

20  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Painted Fabric Pumpkins. on: October 12, 2007 08:06:30 PM
I saw this tutorial on Crafters Coast to Coast and I had a ball making them.  It was fun to come up with the different faces.
