Thank you! Smiley
Yes I think I'll try to smock the blouse. there is already an elastic band on the bottom. but it's just too big.

And: actually a lot of people were asking where I bought it (yeah, actually only the girls, the boys were staring at the bust...)
I promised my sister that the next dirndl I'm going to make will be on for her Smiley But give it a try, it wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. And I think I saw dirndl patterns on Burda (I also think some are for free, which are very similar to dirndls).

And how cool are strawberry tattoos Cheesy

Thanks everybody! you just made me blush Smiley

green is my favourite colour and it's a perfect contrast to my hair Cheesy

What I forgot so write: it's simple cotton fabric. I guess that helped finishing it so fast Smiley

PS: I'm from the Netherlands, but never knew this kind of dress was called a dirndl.

@BeaG: I have relatives in the Netherlands! Smiley I just posted another project-post: a baby-blanket-quilt for my dutch cousin's baby Cheesy

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Heart, blanket and a baby-blanket-quilt-thingy (lots of pics!) on: September 25, 2011 12:10:04 PM
Hi everybody!

I hope I post this one in the right folder.

My dutch cousin had her first baby in September and as soon as she told us that she were pregnant I started working on a baby-quilt. And when she told us it's going to be a girl I new the quilt had to be pink, flowery and just darn cute Cheesy

I also knitted a soft baby blanket (the quilt is not that soft, so I made this one) and sewed a simple heart out of rose-fabric.

So here is what I made: (the colours in the pictures are a bit off because of the bright sunlight)
the quilt-thingy (I hand-quilted (I guess) pale yellow hearts)

Close-ups of the animals (my favourite is the lion Smiley next time I have to remember to take more colourful fabrics. some animals are quite white)

an elephant

zebra

the baby's name

birdie Smiley and a crooked seam...

the back with the parents names: mom + dad = baby Smiley the picture isn't great. you can't see the pale yellow hearts...

and the knitted blanket.

Tell me what you think about it Smiley

Hi everybody!

This is my very first post and I hope this will work Wink

So yes I'm from Germany and yes I'm from Bavaria, but no, this was not made to wear it at the Oktoberfest (I do not intend to go there, it's expensive, too crowded and there are way too many drunk people)

It's been a while ago when I made my very own and special Dirndl that no one else has. And of course: there had to be strawberries Smiley
I found a dirndl pattern at the flee market for only 30 cents, the fabric is from Ikea, so the whole thing was around 15 Euros (around 21 dollar).  ("cheap" dirndls in the store are around 90 Euros!)

I'm not that new to sewing, but usually I have to open seems, sew them again and reopen them again. Often my works stay unfinished because I loose interest while opening and sewing one seam the 1000. time Smiley
But: this dress, the apron and the blouse only took a weekend to make. I didn't make any big mistakes and it really went on fast.

It was the first time that I stitched that much. And fortunately: no blood actually dropped on the fabric Cheesy

Here are pictures of the finished Dirndl. I think I'll make a new blouse. This one is a little too big, and if I don't pay attention (what could happen after the second "Ma" beer Wink ) you can see... well... actually... my boobs would slip out of the dress Cheesy

And here some pictures of the finished dress, apron and blouse:

More close-ups

The whole dirndl. Here you can see the red apron and the stitching on the hem (that really seemed to take forever! I wanted to wear it on a fair and worked on it the whole night before! .. ok not the whole night, but it felt like forever Cheesy )
