1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OWS Round 113 Gallery & Discussion (April 2015) on: April 05, 2015 04:16:24 PM
I've been away for a while but I'm hoping to have time for some claims this month.  I sent in a request to sign up and started cruising people's lists in the meantime to see what I can come up with.

I don't know if it's me or my computer, but I'm finding that nearly all of the links to individual items on the lists are broken.  The links to people's Pinterest pages do work, which makes me very confused.  Can someone else try some of the links and let me know if they're working for you?  Never mind - I've tried a different browser and they're working now.

I have some things on hand that I'd love to pass along - lots of plastic needlepoint canvas and quilt block patterns (mostly Christmas themed but also some lighthouses).  I picked them up at a rummage sale last summer but then got busy and dropped out of swapping for a while so never had the chance to pass them on.  If anyone is interested, please let me know or add to your supplies list.  Also, I have some patterns for 18" doll clothes that I'd like to try out, if anyone is interested in adding those.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Upcycled pincushion from salt shaker on: March 08, 2014 01:44:32 PM

I made this upcycled pincushion from a salt shaker for the recent Box of Sunshine swap.  The salt shaker came from my local Goodwill store.  I must say that it's a good thing there wasn't a mate for it because I might have had a hard time giving them up!

I laid a piece of fabric down on the inside under the top holes before filling the shaker with polyfill.  My hope was that the fabric would keep the filling from creeping out through the holes over time. I didn't glue anything down because I thought the recipient might someday want to use it as a salt shaker again.  I found that the blunt end of a bamboo skewer was just right for stuffing the filling in through the plughole at the bottom of the shaker.  Bamboo skewers are wonderful tools!

I received a wonderful box of sunshine last weekend and I've been reveling in its brightness all week!! I have to send my most sincere apologies to my patient partner plaidpineapple for this very late posting of photos.  We had unexpected house guests last weekend and this week has just been nonstop real life.

First up the box of goodies (and the lovely yellow box is part of the package - it has a great little tie so it can be used for all sorts of organiz-ey goodness)

included were:
a handmade card (with a removable note inside so I can reuse the card)
a yellow on yellow patterned fat fabric quarter
a small orange-with-white-polka-dots notebook, just right for swapping notes, I think  Roll Eyes
a long strip of smiley face sun stickers
a pack of yellow seed beads (crying out to be used in a cuff bracelet, I think)
a roll of paper tape with summertime sayings (Lazy Days, Summertime, etc)
a small marigold color inkpad
orange sharpie
orange crayola lip balm
yellow and blue bakers twine (also used for the box tie)

the crafty goodness inside (and I have a hard time believing either of these was a small) was...

a wonderful glasses case (which I really need because I didn't have one at all!)
and a terrific traveling jewelry case with a necklace of small gold daisies included

Thanks so much, plaidpineapple!!  I love them all - and I can't tell you how glad I was that you made the outside of the glasses case in a flowery fabric because my son was hovering over it ready to grab it and run until he decided it wasn't quite manly enough.  Cheesy

I have finished my crafting.  Just need to find a couple more fillers and I am done.

Eeep!!  Well, I guess I'm not too far behind you, plaidpineapple! I have most of the fillers - just one more particular item to pick up if I can find the right grocery store  Roll Eyes  My son had his wisdom teeth out on Friday so we've mostly been hanging around the house this weekend.  Crafting is about 2/3 done - all planned and both items underway.  It's been very cold here in New Hampshire - perfect weather for spending my time thinking about sunshine.

It's been a while since I've joined a swap but I just couldn't resist this one, especially after seeing so many familiar names!  The days have been so gloomy lately and I think a shot of sunshine is just what I need...

Oh, dear...I think I got rid of a glass umbrella dish not too long ago.  What was I thinking!  Huh

I love that duck - so clever and cute!

And the cat is quite wonderful also.  Smiley

I love that kitty, too.  It looks very Breakfast at Tiffany's, sitting on its fancy cushion, doesn't it?
