21  Socks, shawl and cowl! IMG heavy in Knitting: Completed Projects by Rousseline on: September 19, 2011 05:07:30 PM
Oh my, I haven't posted in a while! Here are three projects I made during the summer (even if they are winter things Smiley )

Here are some socks made with a pattern from the book "Country Weekend Socks". That book has awesome socks pattern, I can't wait to start another pair!

Here is the details of the diamond pattern. It was easy to do even if it doesn't look like it!

I took the pattern for this shawl in a Knit Scene magazine that I bought last month. The colour is really off in this picture, it is a lot greener in real, the colour is grass green. And it's really big, the lenght is around 55-60 inches. I haven't blocked it yet, but it's the next step!

Detail shot!

This cowl comes from the book Cowlgirl, that is also a very great knitting book. I used Vanna's Choice normal and shiny yarns together (a normal pink and shiny pink and a normal grey and shiny grey). I really love the result!

The picture is horrible, but at least you can see that the shape of the cowl on me. Gonna keep me warm during the harsh Canadian winter!

And that's only part of what I did this summer   Cheesy

22  Re: Video Game Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Rousseline on: August 02, 2011 02:42:48 PM
I received yesterday from Undersea-sun and I was so excited!! Here is what I received!

Some prop items: beer bottles from Bioshock, my boyfriend was really excited about them Tongue

I had told Undersea-sun that my boyfriend loves the corrupted core that always says "I'm in space!" from Portal 2, so she made me this little box! It looks really good and there are a lot of details, I love it (and my boyfriend too!)!!

Some little patches, a Zelda and a trusted companion cube!

This is so cool! Some lightswitch covers, there's a Dudbear one (from Legend of Mana) that is my favorite item in the whole swap and a Final Fantasy 7 one!

And we agreed on some extras and I asked for some handmade soaps. They are awesome! The brain one is vanilla pomegranate, the flower one is banana flower with poppyseads and the owl one is strawberry shortcake, mmmm!

The whole package!

Thanks Undersea-sun, I love everything!

I received on Friday! My package had a rough time coming to Canada, but everything got here, so it's good!

The package before I opened it...

All still in the box... but not for long!

The loot!

I got:
-Pop Secret Sweet and Salty popcorn (soooooo addictive!)
-Cheez-it
-Corn Nuts, ranch flavored (love ranch flavor)
-Cheddar combos (my friend couldn't stop eating them!)
-Twinkies (they had a little trouble on the way, but I'm sure they taste great even squished Tongue)
-Easy Cheese (just can't wait to try it!!!)
-Ritz bits cheese
-Goldfish color (that is weird Tongue)
-Fruit Gushers
-Big League Chew
-Zero King size (went straight to the fridge)
-Ring pop
-Cars and Spongebob Mac and Cheese (I'll feel like a kid again eating these!)
-Cupcake and Orange Cream Magic Shell (tried the cupcake one, it tastes like heaven, if heaven was really sweet!)

And my really cute Slime snack bag (my boyfriend and me actually collect Dragon Quest Slimes!)

Thanks halblingefrau, I'll have a lot of fun tasting the remaining things!

24  Re: Snack Swap Four! CLOSED Send Outs 13th July in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Rousseline on: July 07, 2011 04:31:52 PM
Sneak peek picture!!! All the snacks are in the box! I'm not completely done for my crafted item and probably won't have time to finish this weekend because I'm out of town for a funeral, but I'll finish probably next Monday! And it fits in the box too (barely, but its ok, I'll tape it a lot!)  Wink

Can't wait to send, it's gonna be awesome!  Cheesy

25  Totoro cross-stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by Rousseline on: June 21, 2011 07:51:10 PM
This is the cross-stitch I made for my partner in the OTT Miyazaki Swap. My partner said that she loved Totoro with his umbrella, so I had the idea right away to cross-stitch that image.

I found a pixel image of Totoro with his umbrella and I modified it so it fitted the number of stitches for a 4 inches hoop. After that, I took a small part form a background from an old videogame that had a kinda Miyazaki feel. Put the 2 images together and ta-da!

It took me a couple of days to stitch and I am pretty pleased with the result!

This is the picture that my partner put in the gallery when she received.

And this is the picture I took myself before sending.

What do you think?

26  Baby blanket and bag! in Quilting: Completed Projects by Rousseline on: June 17, 2011 11:02:26 AM
This is a baby blanket I made for a friend who's gonna have a boy next month. She likes green and brown and more neutral colors and I decided to spice these colours a little bit with some teal. She and her husband loved it! It's a square, around 2 and a half feet long (and large)

Here it is with the fleece backing. It wasn't the best idea, since I don't have a walking foot and the backing was a little bit stretchy... I wanted to quilt on all the lines of the squares, but because I had problems with the backing, I only made a line in the middle in both directions.

Here is a knitting bag I made for my mom for her birthday. She chose the fabrics, so it wasn't a big surprise, but she loves it anyway, and uses it. The picture is not that good though...

Here is a closeup of the fabrics used for the bag.

I'm working on bigger quilts, can't wait to be done!

27  Link from Zelda Hat and Mittens set - featured in NINTENDO POWER!!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Rousseline on: June 05, 2011 01:51:36 PM
I made this hat and mittens set for my partner in the Zelda Swap 2 and I got contacted by someone from Nintendo Power who wanted to feature it in the magazine. I was soooooo excited, but the problem was that he wanted high resolution pictures, and I only had taken one picture of the set before sending it. So I decided to redo a new set and take pictures of it. And it's really nice, because now I have my own set!

So here it is, in all it's NES glory!

Me with the set. I'm happy because it's one of the pictures that made it into the magazine!

Here is a concept picture with the original Zelda and Zelda 2 on the NES boxes.

Here is a detailed picture of the little Links on the hat.

And a last one, just for fun!

Now I'm thinking of doing similar sets, but a pink one with simplified Zeldas and a black one with simplified Ganondorfs.

UPDATE: Here is the grid chart I used as a base for the hat and mittens! I don't have the exact pattern though...

28  Harry Potter cross-stitches in Needlework: Completed Projects by Rousseline on: May 04, 2011 01:48:39 PM
For the OTHPT2 swap, I made two cross-stitches for my partner, who are interchangeable in the frame I sent her. One is the Hufflepuff crest and the other one is a Bellatrix rocks sign (as you can guess, her house is Hufflepuff and her favorite character is Bellatrix).

I made a backing because I wanted the back to look good and because the cross-stitches were a little bit hard to get out of the frame. The little vertical pieces of ribbons are tabs that make the interchanging easier.

And a last picture of the Bellatrix sign, because I love it Tongue

My partner, astrangeone, received some time ago, but at her parents house and she was at school. And now that she OFFICIALLY received her OTT, I can post pictures without spoiling any surprise!

Here is what I sent her. It's two framed cross-stitches. Well, two cross-stitches and a frame. I did them interchangeable to keep in the OTT spirit.

I also sent her a letter from the ministry:

"Miss,
We write this letter to notify you that the Ministry of Magic intercepted a package sent to you from Mrs Molly Weasley. As per the Wizard to Muggle Contact Regulation, article 390.67, we are entitled to verify that the package follows regulation before we transfer it in the Muggle mail.

We noticed the difference between the two themes of your cross-stitches. The Ministry is a little bit fumbled by this strange mix of interests and we want you to know that we will keep an eye on you. We always discourage associations with the Dark Arts since Harry Potter restored peace in the Wizarding World. Your interest for the famous Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange worries the Ministry.

We also have to notify you that a violation to the Wizard to Muggle Package Size Restriction - which clearly states that a package sent to a Muggle mustnt be more that 4X4 inches in size (Wizard to Muggle Contact Regulation, article 230.98) has been noted in our records and that Mrs Weasley will receive the necessary consequences.

Yours truly,
Umberto Folcrox
Junior minister, Wizard to Muggle Contact Regulation team"

I had so much fun, this swap was a blast!

30  Re: One Tiny Thing Miyazaki Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Rousseline on: April 20, 2011 06:40:27 PM
Wow, everything looks good in this swap!

Here is what I received from Glitter_is_good! I had said in my questionnaire that my favorite character is the dog in Howl's Moving Castle and she didn't forget it! She made me a really awesome zipper pouch with the dog (can't remember it's name right now...)

Here it is! It's appliqu felt and it looks really (really, really) good! I just love it!!

Here is everything she sent me, she added a balloon bracelet in the pouch (she's also balloon twister!)!!

And another shot of the pouch, just for fun!

I already put my small knitting accessories in the pouch, sooo much better than a plastic bag. And that way, I'll see it often!

Thanks Glitter_is_good, I really love it and I'll really use it!
