I was invited to a Halloween party with a theme: the letter P! I wanted to find a costume that had 3 characteristics: 1) Not expensive, 2) Not slutty, 3) Not long to craft. After a lot of thinking, I had the best idea (in my mind )... a Pop Tart! 

I took a pillowcase for the Pop Tart itself, some white fleece for the icing and stitching floss for the sprinkles. In the end, the sprinkles took a long time because I wanted to have knots to look like round sprinkles, but it was worth it! At the last minute, I also made a little felt Pop Tart that I put on a headband.

Here is the costume! 


With my boyfriend, he was disguised as The Professional (with Jean Reno and Nathalie Portman, good old movie!)

I'm really proud of my costume: simple and original, yay! 

About a year ago, I was wandering in a yarn store when I found a very beautiful pair of fair isle mittens made with a varigated yarn and a solid colored yarn. I fell in love with the look of it and I wanted to make a pair for myself. I chose the varigated yarn in pink, beige and brown-purple and purple for the solid color. I found a fair isle mittens pattern on Drops design (link to the free pattern: http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/pattern.php?id=5318&lang=en).

I made the first mitten and then it went in my unfinished project bin (I do that a lot with socks and mittens ). I picked it up this week and I'm happy to have finished!!

Now, what to do with the leftover yarn? Matching hat?

I think this fits the definition of "EPIC"  This is a project I started long ago, but never finished. It's one of those "love-hate" projects: I started really excited, then wondered "what was I thinking?" and stopped for a while, then picked up the project again, etc. This challenge gave me the kick I needed to pick up that quilt and finish it once and for all! 

All of this started when I decided that I wanted to make a quilt with a character from a video game. Since our living room colors are basically black-grey-white-orange, I decided that a grey quilt would fit nicely. Then my boyfriend thought of a Metal Slime, a smiley baddy from the serie "Dragon Quest". I found a 15X15 pixel pattern from the NES version of the game. I decided to make it 17X25 squares and, since I wanted something big, decided to go with charm squares (5X5 inches). So it ended up HUGE, the short side is longer than me (I'm only 5'2", but still!  )!!

I don't have a picture of the back, it's a dark grey fabric with white dots. Sorry for all the bragging, but I'm really happy that I could finish a project as big as that! Now the question is: what do I do with it? 

I have a 2 years old godson and he his obsessed with Mario Bros. So his mother asked me to make him a Mario amigurumi!

I had found that pattern from Wolf Dreamer a year or so ago, so I made it! (http://wolfdreamer-oth.blogspot.ca/2009/08/mario-plushie.html)

Here he is! He's not perfect, but I still love him!

This is the biggest project I ever crocheted ... EVER! I don't know if I'll ever have the patience to undertake a project that big again... but again, if the pattern is beautiful...   

It took me so long because I crochet really slow, like really! I crochet holding my hook and yarn in the same hand so I have to let go of the hook every time I yarn over... long story short, crochet takes forever with me. 

This is "My great-granma 'ghan" or something like that from Crochet today. 96 hexagons in 8 different colors mixed and matched! (And it matches the painting I made that's on my wall).


Here is the afghan on my floor, to show the complete look. As you can see a little bit, I didn't weave in ends, but since it stays on the back of my couch, nobody knows!

These are two shawls I made, one last summer and one that I finished a couple of weeks ago! 

This is a simple triangular shawl, it has some parts with yarn overs, as you can see and some "full" parts. 


This one is smaller and made from yarn that I bought in Finland (and it's Finnish yarn with some variations in the yellow, very pretty!) It has a little bit of a pattern, one row out of 16 is purl on the knit side.

Let's just say that I fell in love for this song. Hard. I love the beat, the epic feel and, most of all, the lyrics.

I decided that I had to craft something with the songs lyrics and I told myself "Why not stitch them?" When I saw that the was only 20 lines of texts in the whole lyrics, I knew I could do it! It took me around one month to stitch the whole piece.

I received from Canamharris and I love my hoop!! One of the things that I told her I liked was squirrels. We have a squirrel in my yard that we feed and it's almost like a pet (we probably have the only squirrel in Canada that stays fat all winter long!) So I was really happy with the squirrel theme of my hoop!

I abolutely love the kind of Victorian feel of the hoop and the stitches are super well done, I'm very impressed at the detail work. And the beads add a nice touch!

Oh my, is that cross stitched on?  If so, that's a huge amount of work!

Yes, it is cross-stitched! It took a long time, but I hadn't cross-stitched in a while, so I loved it anyway!

I haven't posted in soooo long... and I made some cool things since last time

This is a pair of socks that I made as a custom order. First time I sold to anyone on Internet! It's on the same idea as my "simplified Link" hat, but it's a "simplified Professor Layton" pair of socks!

I made the pattern for the simplified Layton using my simplified Link as a base and modifying it until it looked like professor Layton. And I mixed it with a simple pattern for a pair of socks. I added the zig-zags to give it a little bit more fun! The colors were chosen by the person who ordered.

This is a Super Meat Boy plushie that I made for a friend's birthday. It really is a last minute project. I had bought the fleece and cut the pieces, but that's all. On the day of the birthday party, I decided that I wanted to finish that project to be able to give it to him... I started at 3PM and it was done by 5PM! 

Here it is!






It's made of two pieces of fleece and a long 2 inches wide band to make the height (you can see it a little bit on the third picture). The face details are felt and are fixed in place with hot glue (didn't have time to sew them on! )

My friend really liked his gift and it was a hit at the party!
