1  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 78 Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Lady Pistola on: January 28, 2012 11:37:57 AM
Alright, here she is:

Scarlett Christine about an hour old. 7lbs 7oz, 19.5 inches, no drugs!

And no, I'm not hardcore, I just thought I had time to craft and get some crafts before she got here! She surprised us by coming 11 days early, and I was totally convinced I'd be going overdue, b/c with my first, I still hadn't had any contractions at 41 weeks when they sectioned me. Definitely a surprise! But I AM almost done with that felt food and will be sending asap!

Hallelujah! I found my spare card reader! Here are the treats sorbetsurprise sent me!

Some fun things to bake...trifle, pudding, something that looks like flan, Galaxy cake bars, Aero, FizzWizz, Caramel Nibbles, Refreshers, Haribo Gummies, Little cake sprinkles that are gummy citrus slices!

Chewits, Chewits Extreme Sour, Aero Bubbles, Aero Cocoa Mix, Flumps, and a few other little things in there!

And the beautiful craft! A cushion cover!

Perfect to send overseas, it is so light. I've been in the process of covering my current blue and brown pillows (all the same) with different cushions, and this was PERFECT! I love the ruffles on it, the pretty, soft minty color, and my son loved it too. I put it on the couch to get an 'action' shot, but he climbed right up and started studying the ruffles!

Thanks sorbetsurprise for a fantastic swap!!!

Here's the hoop as promised! Isn't it gorgeous?!  Definitely not what I expected from the Sushi theme...much better! Actually, I just noticed that this is a mirror image of it. Weird. Still beautiful though! And look at the gradiation in the fish! Looks delicious, doesn't it?!  Thank you so much FiberAlchemist, it is stunning, and will be displayed proudly! Smiley

First!! I received from Pixiefirefly!!!

Isn't it the sweetest?! I love it, its so perfect for me! I like really simple, sparse, and this definitely fits the bill! I love the white on the soft beige...the beige is a bit lighter in real life. And the 4'' hoop goes perfect with it too...simple and clean.  I couldn't ask for anything more!!! Thanks Pixiefirefly!!

Seriously, how do I rotate photos?!

Received from brielauren! And O...M...G... She outdid me, and then some!!!  Thanks brielauren!!!
Here's everything together:

She made me FOUR different kinds of treats. She said she was having swap anxiety, so she sent extra treats, but she did NOT have anything to worry about!
On the left is Almond Chocolate Biscotti, Pumpkin Pie Cookies, Magic Cookie Bars (half WITH coconut, half without!) And in the front there is a genius little idea...cakes in a jar....Snickerdoodl e Cake!

Here's the close up of the magic cookie bars. So delish!!! And everything was packaged SO perfectly.

The extras!! I think she stalked me.  Wink  This is such a cute headband, reversible too. Love the prints she used. And for the baby boy she sent a perfect bib, with a snap on the bottom to hold a teething ring!!! They are both made SO well, I'm impressed!!!

And last but not least, beautiful recipe cards, with recipes of everything she made, plus one of her own original recipes for Hot Cocoa Cupcakes (must make these) and a bunch of blank cards to add my own recipes in the future! All on a little ring to keep them all together!

My hubby was here when I opened the package, and he insisted on trying a little bit of everything, and after the first bite (magic cookie bar) he said, "These are awesome!" Then the next bite (pumpkin) he said, "Wow, she's 2 for 2!" After the Biscotti, "3 for 3!" Then after the cupcake, he said, "Is she single?" Me: "uh, no, and neither are you."  Him: "Are you sure? Do you think she'd want to be a sister wife?"  Me: "I think you've been watching too much Big Love."

So...I guess its safe to say that it was all amazing. And no, we aren't polygamists in any sense of the word, but I guess he was willing to convert if it meant having a 'sister wife' who could bake like that!!!  Wink  My very favorite are probably the pumpkin cookies, they have just tons of flavor, and his are the biscotti. He said he's never really had biscotti before, and was surprised he liked it so much!!

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but it was all so very delicious and thoughtful, you make me want to step up my swap packages and focus on every last detail, like you did!!!

THought I'd post pics of the extras I sent. It was hard to get good pics, so if my partner can get better ones, maybe she'll post them! This is a cupcake ring pincushion. In kinda retro pink and turquoise colors...

And I made this little dessert stand out of a crystal candle holder and a glass plate...a dab of E6000, and voila!

I didn't even THINK to take pics of the sweets though!  Undecided

9  Pants made from a sweater! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Lady Pistola on: November 21, 2010 06:24:09 PM
I'm so excited about these. They're my first sewing project, my first clothing project...lots of firsts!
I saw some really cute baby sweater pants on etsy, and thought...I really need to learn how to knit! So I went and got a ball of yarn, knitting needles, and a book. I can now do a knit stitch! Still having trouble with that elusive purl stitch though! Anyway, I was a LONG way away from sweater pants, so I did some looking around and found several tutorials for making adult sweaters into baby pants! This seemed a lot more managable!

Went to the thrift store, picked out this sweater, was a juniors size medium, and came home. The tut was how to make pants out of the sleeves....but the sleeves were too short, being a juniors size medium and all....so I basically used the body of the sweater to cut the pattern pieces for a pair of pants, and made these babies! It is still the look I was after, so its all good!  I love the crazy colors...and they're pretty cozy too! (I have another fine merino wool sweater to make another pair, which will be even cozier! Smiley) but these are just cotton/acrylic blend.

Here he is, modeling his new pantalones.

perfect for just lounging, playing the xylophone...

standing up shot...

boring product shot.

Thanks for looking!

10  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, 2010 in The Swap Gallery by Lady Pistola on: November 21, 2010 05:57:00 PM
I did a personal swap with goddessgarb, and here is the amazing stuff she made me!

I sent her supplies, including the snaps used on these bibs...and she made the bibs! They are teething bibs, and have a little hook on the bottom to attach a teething ring. That way, they can chew on it, and the slobber gets caught with the bib! I have been wanting some of these, now baby boy just needs to start officially teething! (The striped one has the teething ring on it.)

Then I sent her MORE supplies, and instead of more bibs, since I had enough now, she made me this awesome crayon roll that fits jumbo crayons. The inside is blue polka dots, and the outside has coordinating fabric with a little car print on it. I love it! It rolls up and ties with a ribbon. He has a little while before he's coloring, but I'm so excited for it! So perfect!

Lastly, she asked me if there was anything else I wanted/needed, and I said I couldnt think of anything else, so SHE came up with this, and it has turned out to be the most awesome little thing! I didn't know that I needed one of these all along!! It is a little pouch type thing, like a purse without the sides sewn up...like a notebook with pocket flaps. On one side it holds diapers and on the other a wet wipe travel size case.  With handles! Its is seriously awesome. I use it all the time. I use my diaper bag as a diaper bag and a purse, so when I need to change a diaper, I can just grab this out of the bag and take JUST what I need with me to the bathroom, instead of lugging a giant bag, rummaging thru it, with a squirmy baby trying to roll off the changing table! Smiley Anyway, can you tell I love it?!  Its awesome piratey fabric.

Goddessgarb said she loves making things for supplies...it allows her to be able to craft for others, like me, who will use all her creations...just letting you know...if you want to swap with someone....she's fantastic!

Thanks goddessgarb!
