1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / The Tick hat help on: August 15, 2010 02:19:40 PM
My boyfriend has his heart set on a hat that looks like The Tick's ( http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/wysiwyg/image/patrick-warburton-the-tick.jpg ) for this winter. Does anyone have any ideas about how to do the antennas so that they'll stay up? The best I can come up with is pipe cleaners. Would appreciate any help or ideas! Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Trying to understand something in a pattern...need help! on: July 19, 2010 02:05:10 PM
Trying out a pattern for something besides hats and scarves and I'm having a hard time understanding part of this pattern.... http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/mittenstwoneedle.htm

I'm stuck on this particular section for the hand section of the mitten:

Next Row: Purl.
Next Row: Follow S1, K1 pattern to and including first p st. Work in pattern across next 8 sts of thumb. Turn. CO 1 st and p across - 9 sts. Turn. CO 1 st - 10 sts.
Work in pattern on these 10 sts to 2 rows less than required thumb length.
K2tog across row.
P2tog on next row.

What exactly do I do to get from 36st to 10? May be a very obvious thing, but just can't seem to get it :0)

Would greatly appreciate any help!! Smiley

3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / What weird meals have you made while totally broke? on: June 06, 2010 02:16:12 PM
Everyone's gone through a period of being super low on cash and as a result had to make due with whatever random ingredients are hanging out in the kitchen. I know my boyfriend and I have thrown together our share of weird nasties.

The one that sticks out the most to me is Spaghetti Sauce Soup.  Buy some cheap store brand sauce, water it down and toss in whatever spices you have on hand. The sad thing is that after a little while it starts to taste really good  Tongue It's dinner for two for $1!

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to see what other poor people meals people have come up with.
4  UNITED STATES / Kansas / Manhattan Ben Franklin going out of business sale on: June 05, 2010 02:13:12 PM
Heads up to anyone in the Manhattan or surrounding areas, the Ben Franklin store in Westloop is going under and everything is up to 50% off at the moment. I popped in today and there's actually quite a bit still there.  Cheesy
