1  Crochet socks! So easy to make! in Crochet: Completed Projects by megan969 on: June 27, 2010 12:59:46 PM
This may be a well known technique for crocheting socks but I'm a bit of a crochet newbie and was amazed by how easy it was! It didn't take long to crochet the stripey ones for my boyfriend so I went on to whip up a pair for myself with some really chunky wool.

Here's the tutorial I used:

So thank you to 'Linda Diak and Grafton Fibers'!

Let me know what you think Cheesy

2  Birthday pressie for my niece, Tilda! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by megan969 on: June 14, 2010 01:43:02 PM
I made this for my niece, Tilda, on her second birthday as a kind of educational toy.

Each letter is connected by a loop of shoelace and a button so she can take them apart and hopefully learn to spell her name.

I forgot to take a photo of her opening it but she knew straight away that it said her name!

3  Klippan footstool re-style in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by megan969 on: May 01, 2010 05:47:26 AM
I made a new cover for my Ikea Klippan footstool (the original was boring black) and it was suprisingly easy.

I kept thinking I was going to make a stupid mistake and realise I'd been kidding myself by thinking it would only take a morning to finish - but I didn't!! Hurrah!

Made from two old curtains and some left over Liberty print linen that my Mum used to re-upholster a sofa back in the 70s - I love hand-me-downs  Smiley

I didn't do anything fancy to the corners so they look a little messy but the fabric is stretched enough so that it's not too noticeable (I think!).

4  Scary cat travel basket to cosy cat bed basket! in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by megan969 on: April 05, 2010 02:45:56 PM
Found this old-fashioned cats' travel basket in a skip (helped myself...is that wrong?  Embarrassed) and thought my cat might prefer it to his horrible old plastic travel basket.....he didn't!

So, I thought I'd try a mini re-craft and make it into a cat bed. You can't really tell from the picture but the cushion is padded (with an old bath mat) and covered with fabric from old curtains.

Love to know your opinions!

5  Crochet granny square baby blanket - first post! in Crochet: Completed Projects by megan969 on: April 05, 2010 02:28:08 PM
First post and first finished granny square blanket! Would love to hear your opinions/suggestions (apologies...as it's my first post no photos allowed!)

This is quite small really...maybe 50 x 80 cm but it's for my soon-to-be-born new neice or nephew so just needs to fit in the bottom of a moses basket!

Doesn't look too bad from a distance but I'm a bit worried it looks scruffy close-up...
