This is beautiful!  I am in awe of your satin stitching ability.
12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / A Mother's Day Mushroom House on: May 11, 2010 01:47:43 PM
I made a little mushroom house stuffie/decoration as a Mother's Day gift for my mom.  It was my first embroidery project.

The finished product.

Detail shots.

I used the Mushroom House pattern from the little house by the sea.  Here are some progress shots (click the thumbnail to embiggen the image).

Stitches and techniques I used include French knots, bullion knots, stem stitch, detached chain stitch/lazy daisy, split stitch, running stitch, and seed stitch.  I am pretty pleased with how the project turned out, and most importantly, my mom adores it.  My cousin (who is about my mom's age and close to her like a sister) was also so taken with the little house that she commissioned me to make one for her.  She offered to pay me, but I said I'd do it for free.  However, she noticed that I was admiring an antique tweed train case at a shop we were visiting and purchased it for me as a form of payment for the mushroom I'll soon be making her.  Hooray!

14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: For the revolutionary needleworker on: May 05, 2010 04:05:32 PM
I love this so, so much.  I, too, am fond of communist (particularly Soviet) propaganda, as my avatar indicates.  You did a marvelous job on this!
15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: First Ever Embroidery Attempt! on: May 02, 2010 08:38:17 AM
Your stitching is beautiful; I'm amazed that this is your first embroidery project!  What a lovely idea for a gift.

What a marvelous idea!  I love matryoshki.
17  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Roy G. Biv on: April 27, 2010 01:16:44 PM
This is beautiful.  I thought the blue was a natural part of the fabric; it looks meant to be.  Thank you for providing this pattern and so many others; I just love your style of art.

This is so pretty!  I love it, and know your swap partner will, too.
19  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Old Gregg - a scaley man fish on: April 26, 2010 05:44:08 PM
"Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say it's more of a seventy-thirty split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard."

You did a marvelous job on Old Gregg.  I, too, love Tony Harrison, and am determined to improve my crocheting skills enough to make a likeness of him.
20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Holy Grail tote and Hand Grenade from Monty Python Swap on: April 26, 2010 05:32:22 PM
My parents and I recite the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch speech to each other all the time, so I couldn't resist showing this to them.  We are all very impressed and, of course, amused!  I'll have to upgrade my crochet skills past a simple chain stitch and make this for them.
