I love it! It's so detailed, and there's so much thought behind it!
What music does it play?  Smiley

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Box of Memories (lots of pics) on: April 08, 2010 02:13:59 PM
The idea of making a gift with my own hands came to me last July, when my boyfriend's birthday was getting closer and my wallet was empty.
I found an old wooden box with two hearts on it, and came up with the idea of making a "box of memories" as a present. It's basically a jewelry box filled with small objects that are supposed to symbolize memories i have from our year together (almost two now! Smiley ).
Here it is!
(Sorry for the crappy quality, the pics were taken in poor light conditions and with a cellphone)

On the outside:

The inside with our picture and all the objects inside:

The items (with brief explanations):
An orchid with a butterfly (printed image, the butterfly is stapled to it because i didn't have glue) - a memory of a trip to "Utopia", an orchid garden.

A small version of my notebook we burned together as a ritual for my highschool graduation (i cut it out of a bigger notebook and burned the edges with a lighter):

An eight-ball symbolizing our first date (made out of Fimo and correction liquid):

A skewer with "meat" and "tomatoes" (beads and toothpick) symbolizing our first kiss at a BBQ:

And last one - a towel with flip-flops (fabric scrap, lines drawn with pen and flip-flops are cut out of a notebook cover):

I'm not entirely happy with the result, but it was the best i could do at the time. I do like the 8-ball, and my boyfriend did like his gift so i guess it's not a total disaster either  Wink

Adorable!
What a beautiful and harmless way of transforming an annoying alarm clock! I usually just want to smash it in the mornings  Grin

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Two wooden shelfs\boards? on: April 08, 2010 03:45:02 AM
Thanks for the advice!
I love the idea, but i'm afraid it's not very practical in my house, with my 3 yr. old nephew running around. My lovely side table will turn to glass shards in minutes  Wink
Thanks anyway!
